For me, it's a turn ON -- so perhaps it's a "to each his own" situation? (Muscledudes with painted nails fly to the top of my priority list.)

And unlike tattoos (or even bushy beards or shaven pubes), it's a modification/adornment that could possibly be negotiable ("might I trouble you to remove the nail polish for our meeting?")...

What is this current trend with hot, muscular men wearing nail polish?  Specifically, I am referring to Morgxn Thicke, a Gayforfans performer that has an amazing body.  I would love to watch him or even suck him dry - but the nail polish is such a turn off.  Am I wrong?  Please, help me understand!!

I'm with you OP. Total turn off for me. To me, it just looks stupid.  Only thing worse are long nails on a guy.

I don't think guys that grow these weirdass beards and wear these weirdass earrings & nail polish understand the effects these things do to their body image in general.

  • Beards generally ADD ABOUT 10 YEARS to a guy's perceived age.  That's why a young guy who's trying to get that middle management position will typically grow a mustache or beard to make them look more mature/more responsible than they really are.
  • Earrings/Earstuds & Nail polish have a FEMINIZING effect on the wearers.  That's why rough looking guys like pirates and criminals wear them to soften up their image and make them approachable.

So

  • If you're a 30-something guy and you find yourself frequently telling people you're in your late 20s, then DON'T GROW FACIAL HAIR!  Facial hair will make you look like a 60-something guy telling people you're in your late 20s!
  • If your close friends keep telling you not acting in a certain way because it makes you look like you're QUEEN of the fairies, then DON'T WEAR EARRINGS/EARSTUDS & NAIL POLISH.  Those things will make you look like you're just one tiara away from being the EMPRESS of the fairies!

It's soo simple and yet soo many of these grandpas and princesses still don't get it!

I don't particularly like it but it's a temporary fad.  It will eventually fade away.  If everything else about the guy was outstanding I could easily ignore it.

There's a study about another body decoration (beards) published in http://rsbl.royalsocietypublishing.org/lookup/doi/10.1098/rsbl.2013.0958 about this.  There's also an article from the BBC (https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-27023992).

If you're in a hurry, this is a good enough summary

Quote

... Jeremy Paxman, the BBC Newsnight presenter, shaved his beard off, saying "beards are SO 2013"...

Its 2021, so lets drop the "feminizing" stigma crap.    Makeup, polish, earrings, ALL of it are symbols of a relaxed attitude towards self expression and individuality.   If you LIKE it, DO IT/ WEAR it.

And if you dont like it, FINE, but allow others to enjoy it without judgement.   Its not affecting your life, so simply internalize your dislike and get on with YOUR life.

I enjoy it, and think its sexy even on Morgxn Thicke.

Every escort has to be savvy enough to know their target market.

While I have no opinion on if a guy wants to paint his nails or have a face full of makeup, as an escort you've got to consider if you're being taken into public places and how that affects your client.

I know most of the guys I see don't want to see tattoos or piercings, nor would they like my nails being painted or if I wore gaudy jewelry.

Knowing that is knowing my market.  It's a person-to-person thing.

Out of curiosity, what colours do they use?

First, it was nothing, then it was one stud earring, then it was two stud earrings, now it's nail polish.  When will this feminizing of men stop?  Full make-up?  Rouge, eye liner, foundation? Will hot, gay men walk around with a 'murse,' so they can freshen up?  When does this trend end?  I want men to be men!  I'm okay with effeminate gay men that wear make up, etc.  I'm not attracted to them.  I'm talking about muscular gay men who are either escorts, or other performers in the sexual genre.  I don't think Falcon Studios, for example, will allow any of their models to wear nail polish during a scene.

I get it, to each his own . . . but come on!  This needs to stop before it gets out of control.

Its the "neutralizing" of our society. Gender neutrality. What I find interesting is that the assault on masculinity is profound and people saying it's ok to wear a hair bun, nail polish, eye liner etc. Yet I dont see women "neutralizing" and wearing baggy shorts to the gym, taking off make up...  except for the few butch lesbians. Many "masculine" professions such as police and military are getting railroaded yet it's funny to hear the stories of the same activists when they get assaulted call 911 for help.

"Agressive" type jobs and professions are necessary for our safety and free society. So I'm not so against men wearing nail polish as I am the attempt to neutralize the masculinity out of our society. Nail polish on a mma fighter in the octagon would be kind of hot actually!

You are right Benjamin, if I were to hire you I would want you wearing as little as possible.  But if you were wearing painted nails coordinated to a tight g string, I might like it.

You say assault on masculinity.  Perhaps you are not old enough to recall the assault on femininity such as women wearing pants.  Life is change.  Some change is fun some change is annoying but change itself is inevitable.  This is especially true when is comes to standards of masculinity and femininity.  Powdered wigs anyone?

Because it is getting out of control.  To quote Archie Bunker, " Guys like us we had it made,  Those were the days,  And you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men . . ."  That's what we need.  And yes, I am very old fashioned.  I think women should wear skirts and dresses at all times, except if working in the garden or doing some manual housework.  Personally, I don't like women wearing pants.  But, since I'm not attracted to women I've learned to accept it.  I get wearing pants is more comfortable for them.

Men need to be men and leave the nail polish and lipstick and feminine shtick alone . . .

True but reread my post. I wasnt so much against these fads and trends as I am against the neutralizing of masculinity by some in our society.

Women wearing pants wasnt an attack on femininity. To the contrary. It was the liberating of the woman in society. We have heard the phrase "toxic masculinity" yet I never recall a time when "toxic femininity" was used.

All this crap in school is destroying the essence of who we are. We are biological humans. If one wants to "feel" as being other than they are...fine. do NOT however put down our sexual reality.

The sheer "masculinity" that built our great nation and those that gave their lives allowing us to our express ourselves as we are right now is the true essence of masculinity. And I am greatful that god gave us such a virtue.

After centuries of patriarchy, women attacked masculinity by getting the vote.  Wearing pants and smoking cigarettes as men did in the 1860s was just another step toward women being able to step outside the shadow of men.  Nail polish worn by a few men as a fashion statement is no more an attack on masculinity than men becoming nurses and women becoming doctors.  It is only a problem if you are wedded to an immutable standard of masculinity and feminity.  That is more in the eye of the beholder than in reality.

There is a funny series of insurance commercials in which the is a Dr. Phil like guru is teaching middle aged adults how to avoid becoming their parents. They hit close to home but the segment of those commercials that comes closest to an example of past generational thinking is one in which Dr. Phil lite is with several of his students in a box store and a young man walks by with blue hair.   Dr. Phil lite whispers "We all sea it  We all see it".  A balding middle aged man struggles to contain it but eventually he burst out "Blue Hair".  It would have worked as well if the young man was wearing pink nail polish.

For the most part, I would not find nail polish on men to be a turn on, though I do find a French manicure a big turn on when women have them.  This speaks to an elegance and sophistication, for me anyway.  So I am old fashioned in my tastes but not in my perceptions, well at this not in this one.

I stopped hiring an escort about four years ago because I noticed during a session he was wearing black toenail polish. I'd probably be a little more accepting of it now since I've seen more young guys wearing it, but it still wouldn't enhance the mood...

“Guys like us”—at least those interested in M4M sex— definitely didn’t have it made in the mid-to-late 40s, the era the song alludes to.

However, I agree about men wearing nail polish. It’s a huge turnoff to me.

thats  a little bit off. nail polish, hair buns, mascara on men are the symptoms of a problem more so than fashion statements. these are more protests against a set of norms and  its end sum game is to neutralize masculinity in a way that can be very harmful to society. men becoming nurses and women becoming doctors is an expansion of culture and advancements in society. these "trends" started activists using terms like " down with hyper masculinity" that then turned into "end toxic masculinity".  now all out assaults on professions that are by nature male and masculine driven.

again... i see nothing wrong with people being people. live and let live.as long as its genuine... but that needs to be on both sides. let anyone do what they want with regards to fashion and dont hate on masculinity in our society. men are men and god love them for that!!
