I regretted the two times I hired without seeing a face pic. Both were well-reviewed providers here. Both touted their good looks on their ads and websites. The first turned out to be a lookalike of Elmer Fudd. The second, a masseur in the LA area, had the hair and face of an unattractive version of He Man. The second one also refused to close the window blinds to his massage space, exposing me to his neighbors while he blabbed endlessly about his love of art cinema. Caveat emptor.

Funny most clients look like Elmer

If you have an ad on RentMen, why not put some face pics in your private gallery?  Even premium clients need to request access to those.  You then control who sees them and you can always block their access after they’ve viewed them.

Personally, I would never hire without seeing a face pic.

they could take a screenshot, save it, pass it on, post it on here. I think the OP @Alexphilly wants to keep his friends and family from finding out what he does for a living.

So many guys on here saying they would never hire without seeing a face pic... yet 15 or even 10 years ago most guys didn't show their faces in the ads. I wonder what they did back then?

There are lots of things we did or didn’t do/have 10 or 15 years ago.  Times change.

@Alexphillyhas the right to do whatever he is comfortable with on his ad.  No one is arguing that.  He seems to be ok with losing potential clients over this issue.  As I said in my original comment, I’d never hire without a face pic.  Your face is part of the product you’re selling.

Over time he’ll discover whether this works for him and adjust, if necessary.  If it isn’t, and your assumption is correct that he doesn’t want friends and family to discover this part of his life, he’ll need to decide whether to change his approach or discontinue in this business.  Regardless, I wish him success.

yes, Uber and so many things that have changed our lives didn't exist 10/15 years ago. Times change!

I just have this thing that I don’t send face pix out if a client request them.

100% your call. I don't know anything about you but if you are in this business for a short period just to make some money for a project, or this is just a side gig to complement your main source of income, i.e. a job where you just started and you would be negatively impacted if this activity is discovered, then you have all the rights to protect your privacy. That's why there is something called "Right to Privacy".

With that being said, you should accept that some clients will lose interest after hearing about your privacy policy. I personally don't look for Ken dolls because what I look for is even more scarce: Tops. So in most cases I will leave good looks in the background (not that I'm going to hire a monster) as long as the provider is a well-reputed hung top.

As an anecdote, some of the most reviewed providers in my city don't show face, one is one of my regulars. I suppose it comes down to how you market yourself and the service you provide. If you make clients happy rest assured that they will leave good reviews and give you a good reputation. If you are getting the amount of business you want and you are happy with it, don't let anyone tell you how to conduct your own business.

I get not putting your face on your ads, I don't either, it is reasonable for a client to be unwilling to hire you if you won't send them one.  I've been escorting for two decades and sending out face photos to potential clients has yet to bite me in the ass.  That doesn't mean it can't or won't.  If you're uncomfortable doing that expect resistance from your potential clients, that's all.

  • 3 weeks later...

you’re phone number, email and approximate location are visible for literally the whole internet, even the site has your sensitive information as ID and banking info, and you care about privacy? don’t get me wrong but the moment you joined the cyberspace you gave up your privacy lol just include some on your private gallery or advertise as a glory hole

Easy there, Cambridge Analytica.  Some people mitigate personal data exposure by:

- not listing a phone number/using burner or any app to obfuscate their personal number. I use Session messenger which beats Telegram for data leaks and has a higher privacy score.
- compartmentalized email for work only (who uses a personal email account for this now anyways?)
- custom VPN service.  I can be anywhere!! For an ad location, the approximate location is a city unless you list your rough area in the city for incalls.
- payment for RM in crypto. From an unused wallet using a reputable mixer service to eliminate tracing of funds.
- among other tools I will leave out of this post.

So yes, some of us do care about privacy ;)

It’s sad that there are many people who view sex work as being something to be critical of and to shame those who take part in it, either as provider or hirer. While this repression exists in society then sex workers and hirers will seek privacy.

When bigoted people accept that doing sex work is the same as any other type of work with value to society then it will be possible to do it without concerns about being vilified. Until then it’s necessary to exercise discretion.

As a victim of identity theft that used my face, I understand not posting a face pic. As a client who would like to know what to expect, I also get not wanting to hire without seeing a face. There are plenty of fish in the sea to accommodate all of these perspectives, at least in the markets I use.

That said, I have never yet met an adult male who was not handsome. I guess I just really like guys.

Generic rentmen private gallery requests, on the other hand, get ignored, as does "face pic?" without any introduction.

I'm sure I miss out on a few clients....but were they really clients I wanted that bad anyway?

I actually use the generic rentmen private gallery, which don't have my face in them but nobody knows that (except now all of you), requests as an opportunity to make friends.

A few days later I'll message them asking, "and so....?" or something flirty and the talks go from there.  But I get it, it seems like they are just collecting photos and it feels that way because most of the time, they are!
