I've noticed how more and more adult movie actors aren't advertising on rent men any longer. Is it probable that their twitter travel dates, along with Grindr, Scruff, and similar hook-up methods render websites obsolete?

 

It's frustrating in my dinosaur age plug-in computer with no smart phone to have a hell of a time making arrangements, as often I get a "form letter" reply instead of an actual one. Refusing to move with the times has never felt so isolating. Now, back to my record player....

Dont feel bad, you aint alone.  I dont have a cell phone, and no hookup apps on my pc.  Yeah I have a bit of FOMO, and feel out of touch, but at 70, I'm winding down anyway.

I think part of this trend is due to the proliferation of OnlyFans and JustForFans sites.  They're probably making more money "collabing" with each other than they were seeing unknown clients.  They know how to network with each other and cross-promote their sites, which often times exposes them to a larger subscriber pool.

They make more money in onlyfans! 

I'm sure they take potential clients by twitter but I think they're more interested in guys who could appear with them in their videos.

The guys in my network say they are making more money from their fans pages, plus avoiding to deal with annoying clients. Let's see if the fans pages bonanza lasts beyond the pandemic. First, I thought it would not, but now I am starting to think that this trend is here to stay. Time will tell.

While OF et al are here to stay, some of a lot of he porn on those platforms is pretty bad. My guess is the absence of a director leads to the unimaginative scenes that we see on a pretty regular basis. A similar principle holds for porn stars who escort and deliver less-than-stellar experiences. Without the directors to tell them what to do they are left to their own devices. If they can't perceive what their partner might want next, they can't deliver it.

In Toronto there is a new wave of providers who have appeared on RM during Covid, probably out of unemployment.

Some of those guys don't feel comfortable appearing and performing sexual acts on camera.

Luckily it has been like that during all the time I've been hiring. No shortage of providers. Now, quality is a different thing.

Over the years, I’ve hired many escorts who were escorting for temporary reasons like university tuition or for a down payment to buy a house.  These men would never want an online video to come back to haunt them in the future.

True. However, culture is changing. More and more guys do not mind about being recoded doing porn (they know is FOR EVER). Not only that, many of them even use their legal names instead of fantasy ones, which I find specially astonishing and telling of how we are living a new age.

I would give it time...things will get back to the way they used to be.  Physical touch will never be replaced by OF....you can only record so many videos so many ways.

Plus I just discussed this with a guy I spent time a couple weeks ago.  He said that once they see your ass they move on to next guy and the pay isn’t as lucrative as one would think.  While there are exceptions, they are rare....

Give it time.  I’ve already seen a couple guys come back to the biz that I thought were gone forever....

Of course, if you are not an annoying client. I still see some guys who have onlyfans and have stopped advertising as escorts. They keep meeting with the regulars they like. Plus, I am sure if you reach out through their social media with a very generous offer (forget standard prices), they will take you even if you are annoying.

I don't think escorts who have done porn, even those who would actually be considered on pornstar level status, are dwindling off of RM. At least a lot of the ones I am/was interested in are still advertising on RM. Hell a number of them disappeared way before the pandemic hit and returned to escorting, just before or during.

I know a lot of them have various fansites. But people don't seem to realize not all of them make tons of money. Sure overall they get paid probably more than working for a studio. However, most of them aren't on Rhyhein Shabazz or Austin Wolfe level of onlyfans income. So they diversify their incomes between studio porn, fansite stuff, the occasional appearances and escorting. You also have to take into account there may be a number still waiting for things to be even more back to normal before they began advertising again (if at all).

As mentioned earlier some have moved on to greener pastures and only used escorting to pay for school or some other thing to help go into another profession.

On a side note, a few I hired in the past still escort but don't advertise or don't advertise as much.

All true. However, you would be surprise at how many boys are getting good money. It is not most of them, but it is many.

Also a clarification about the guys I refer as "my network". I am talking about Rio and Buenos Aires escorts. I have withdrawn from the American market a long time ago.

And good for them! If subscriptions are $10/month and the site keeps 25%, then the guy keeps $7.50. If they have 1000 subscribers, that's $7500/month which is pretty good for a guy in their 20s. If they have over 10k subscribers, that's at least $75k/month which is really really good money! Is it sustainable to when they reach over age 40? Only time will tell. 

I think the key is to market themselves to a wide enough fan base who are willing to pay that $10/month subscription.

You're absolutely right, there is a variety of escorts offering different things, and there are clients out there looking for escorts at every point on that spectrum. Not all escorts convey the range of their capabilities (or preferences) in their ads. I've had exchanges with escorts in person (social settings), in here and on social media that convince my they are the sort of man I want to hire (and a few that push me in the other direction). I had one of those good conversations just last night in RM messenger (shame about the border restrictions).

If you are out of the States, you do not need 1000 subscribers to have a comfortable income for a young person.

I do not think so. A successful OF depends on variety, and variety comes from collaborations with other performers. They will stay in or close to big metropolitan areas.

Hard to say.  Onlyfans recently changed their policy to require all performers to have an performer account, so they can do proper documentation to avoid legal problems.  That means that any anyone doing more than solo vids needs to have a pool of potential collaborators in their area also on onlyfans.  They have to keep posting regularly to keep people subscribed, so a smaller pool makes it harder to keep creating fresh content.
