I last saw him in 2009. He later met someone in the same medical field as myself. They are now happily married. Long term communication isn’t always the answer. I had gotten into phone conversations with younger fellow for several months and I drove down to Jersey during Thanksgiving. We absolutely failed to hit it off in person. Just an aside: A couple of years ago I went to Australia and New Zealand. I managed to get two First Class tickets on Emirates from Sydney to Christchurch on Credit card points alone. I like to be considerate of my man and realize he has a life. But if he texts while we're conversing or eating, he better offer a very good explanation of the nature of the emergency. When I was researching fights to NZ last January a QF codeshare on the EK flight came up as an option for the return leg. It would have required an overnight in Sydney, but wasn't showing as an option when it came time to book and I ended up flying back via AKL and on to Canberra on the same day. It would have been nice to fly CHC-SYD on an A380 (but in J not F, and for cash). I agree with you 100%. I never ever text or do anything on my phone while I am eating or having a conversation with someone. I think it shows respect and that you are interested in the person. I also have a lot of close escort friends i like to fly in from Europe. Christmas before last I took my #1, #2, #3 and 2 others to Key West for a week on a non-stop commuter AA flight from DCA and it hardly made a dent in my miles. I think it was 16K each rt on BA miles. Everyone loved the idea and trip. Flying someone in from Europe is usually 50-60 rt but often from Europe on a rt cash is better. RT's from Europe are cheap. If I have a ton of miles still, I'll use them myself for Asia or Australia Biz class. That will eat them up fast. I'll never do the other side of the world, as much as i love it, coach again unless it's with long stopovers in Europe and south Asia. i would never fly in someone i've never met though. you have no idea until in person about the chemistry. I'd be flying 1st class all over the place. no and yes. you can will miles or just give passwords. but a one-way business ticket to Asia or Oz is almost never under 100,000 miles and more like 300,000 miles roundtrip for one. dynamic pricing usually means dynamically more. in my latter days I think i'd do at least one around-the-world with many stops in biz or first. i could always sell my miles on gray market or change them for giftcards but their best value is biz tickets. so i usually buy tickets if their cost is under 1 cent per mile it would cost me. saving miles for later years luxury flights is not uncommon as they are the best value per mile. so i use them now for bargains like two years ago BWI to HNL for 10K on Alaska with free stopover in SFO. or the 16K rt DCA to Key West Christmas trip for 6. but half the tix i get i pay cash for instead of wasting miles. With airlines constantly looking for ways to devalue your mileage, it makes zero sense to hoard them. Earn, spend, repeat. I've gone through about 6.5mm with American in total.
