I was reading another post about paying up front and didn’t want to hijack that post so I’ll ask it here. There was a lot of talk about leaving the money in an envelope out in the open. I’ve never paid cash for service, only cc or app based payment. So my question is, are there really that many paying cash or is it more electronic these days?

Cash will always be king in this business.

There are a lot of clients with a lot to lose... And a digital paper trail of indiscretion is not a wise move.

On the flip, there are a lot of escorts who under-report or don't report any of their income to the IRS. Accepting a lot of electronic money is a first-class way to give the government an easy case against you.

I have a client who, when he pays me says “cash, only for my drug dealer, cleaner and masseur” as he hands over the cash. I reply “ I accept any hard currency as well as any hard cock”.

I’d say guys prefer to pay in cash because it’s anonymous. I take cards but clients who may be married worry that they’ll have an unexplained entry on their statement. Most clients pay in cash.

I rarely if ever use cash day-to-day, but for hiring, my last two have preferred electronic transfer (as I think I have previously posted in these forums). One I used bank transfer and the other I paid in cash because his options didn't work for me at the time. It's legal here so that's not one of the issues, and an electronic trail doesn't bother me. Most of the electronic options I could use are Australian, so if I'm in the US (not a possibility for the foreseeable future) it would be more difficult.

Most guy clients pay cash and paypal, cashapp, venmo have only become methods of payment in the last years. Before they didn't even exist.

yes, as @Benjamin_Nicholas says cash is by far the most commonly used way to pay.

Seems reasonable even if your client is not on the short list for SCJ. I always wonder why in hell someone will pay with CC for something that borders illegality?

Escorting or massages are the main reason why I go to ATMs these days. ? In my day to day life, I use my debit/credit cards for 99% of my purchases. However, for transactions that require a little more "discretion," cash is the only way to go. I don't want to share my personal info, real name, etc. with my provider and I don't want to take the chance that my SO might see the charge. As it is, I am at least slightly nervous that someone will look at my ID while I'm using the bathroom and my wallet is available in my pants on the chair. I assume that many providers would rather avoid the fees associated with cards too.

In my experience, here in Canada, etransfers are gaining on cash. I now receive about 50/50 between the two, with a sprinkling of cc. Those numbers probably reflect the fact that a lot of my business comes from regulars who don't feel the need to hide their identities, and would rather save themselves the trouble of hitting the ATM. I've been pleasantly surprised to find that a strong majority of younger clients, even if it's a one-time booking, are happy to use their real names as well.

That said, cash isn't leaving the biz any time soon.

I live in a third world country, so sometimes its hard to get fully legal businesses to accept credit cards, let alone app payments like PayPal; providers are a cash only expense for me, though I have one regular that is starting to prefer payment in kind rather than money.

I would definitely prefer them be a little more with the times since I hate carrying cash and no one looks at my bank statements other than myself, but alas, I will trade convenience for paying for an overnight what American providers charge for an hour :p

Asking for a friend.... where exactly do you live?

One of my local ATM’s dispenses 100’s on request in addition to 20’s and 50’s. Very convenient.

I bank at Wells Fargo (since it was Wachovia) and Bank of America. There are 2 locations nearby at 14th and U NW where you can get cash in 10, 20, 50 or 100 and how many of each.

I couldn't care less if I left a paper trail, but I've always figured that providers prefer cash. But I have never received hundred dollar bills from an ATM.

we're both retired, and not applying for a place at the SCJ or running for office. Without bringing politics into this forum let's remember the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal - Wikipedia and how he got caught because of the paper trail even if transactions were smaller than 10,000

Let's remember Eliot Spitzer? Really? Since I started out by saying I couldn't care less about a paper trail, you think we should. Gee.

No, I think you and I are retired, we don't care but some do... CC gossip about what we do with our money. Some escorts had their Venmo and PayPal cancelled or the IRS audited about them.
