I'm starting my first "real" job in a couple of months. I'm making a monthly budget based on my bi-weekly take home pay and just chuckled at the thought of setting aside a specific amount each month for escorts. I'm curious how many of the fine gentlemen on here consciously set aside a monthly sum for hiring escorts. If so, how much?

If you have to Budget for it, it really shouldnt be a hobby.... It can get out of hand Real easy....

I want to set aside a specific amount each month for investments so I need to budget in order to control my spending and make sure I hit my investing targets.

I was specifically referring to your question about "budgeting for your hiring Hobby".... setting money aside for Investments is wise.

My max per session is $300.

A Provider would really need to be outstanding for me to spend more in 1 meeting.

How much you want to set aside for "entertainment" depends on your disposable income.

I bet you will be able to find many online sources about "What % of income should be directed to entertainment?"

But I totally get what you mean!

I would also say that you better allocate "entertainment" for the weeks of the month that are more stressful for you.

I usually set (and this is just me) 1 to 2 hires every quarter, around the 15 and 30 of the month - I'm not hiring now because of Corona.

The rest of the time I try to fill out spaces with hookups I find (Free or Paid) on Dating Apps. and that works for me.

And yes, sometimes I've been all quiet and relaxed but then I browse RM and say:

"F*ck it, I need to get f*cked good. I'm gonna try this new guy".

And then I end up spending money I didn't allocate for "entertainment".

This hobby sometimes requires a good amount of self-control too ?

Similar andbefore Corona, I met with 1 to 2 providers per quarter but I usually do a min of 4 hours to ON depending on the providers; I like to got out to a nice dinner etc. With travel costs usually it was 3k per quarter or so

I could easily see things getting out of control if I don't limit myself to a certain amount each month for this hobby.

I agree with you. I think budgeting for the hobby is smart. I do the same because I work in education and don't really have a ton of extra money for the hobby so I do budget for it. I kind of think of my budget for what I have left over each month after expenses and my savings. I usually do not have any money for my first paycheck because all my bills are at the beginning of the month. But tend to have an extra $300-$400 on my second check of the month so that is when I tend to meet guys. Therefore, I try limit myself to hiring only once a month at most. If I am trying to go for a bigger experience or a trip, than I often go without the hobby for a couple months. Right now I am trying to save up for Palm Springs, so I am not hiring until then. Although I should also get a tax refund and (hopefully) the third stimulus to help with the trip.

I personally include the hobby as part of my entertainment budget. Also in there are things like tickets for sporting events and theater, dining out, and travel. I find it gives me flexibility. The entertainment budget is set each year after I set up my budget for maximizing my 401(k) & HSA contributions, insurance (health/life/condo/auto), mortgage/property taxes/HOA, utilities, charity and groceries.

I don’t use my main income for hiring. I only use a supplemental income I have doing some side jobs.

Sometimes that income is substancial, and I don’t use it all. With what I’ve saved I could buy a condo in another state (not in SoCal yet).

Could you have a side gig that you could use for this purpose only?

I did Lyft for a while and definitely used that extra money for the hobby. I once even picked up an escort traveling to the city. We had met once before but he didn't recognize me. We had arranged a meeting in the afternoon and he went on a little shopping trip in the morning at a nearby mall. I offered to pick him up but he had assumed I sent the Lyft for him. He didn't realize it was actually me driving the thing.

I dont go by rules or budgets. I go with the flow each month after seeing how much my check balance is and then decide what is "disposable" income after my recurring expenses are paid. Before I retired, I used to have a series of envelopes for each of my expenses. When I got paid, I allocated a portion to each envelope every week, and when the monthly bill was due, I had the money saved up. Since retirement, I loosened up, and since the quarantine, its been real easy since there hasnt been a lot of "extras" to spend money on.... Its been Great on my wallet, but a disaster on my "psyche"..

When I first started working, my priority was not really escorts and at that time, sex was readily available in bathhouses lol. I was more focused on purchasing my condo, traveling, and spending time with friends. But you should do what is comfortable for you and your lifestyle. Do you second guess whether you can go out for dinner with friends? Do you have to think twice about a material purchase? If so, perhaps allocate a smaller amount for "entertainment". I think when I started working in the late 90s in new york, I would hire about once a month - in those days there were escort agencies in the new york area (i.e., paramount, A list, campus escorts). Now (before pandemic), i would hire 2 or 3 times a week...lol.

Sounds like, as with most things on this forum, that there is a wide range of experiences and practices. I have only hired while traveling and for that reason I like to plan ahead and have money set aside.

I withdraw $200/month for hiring and that has worked for my budgeting and spending purposes. Since travel (and hiring) has been significantly curtailed, I’ve now got a good amount set aside that I occasionally add to by getting some cash back when I shop for groceries. I feel like when travel and hiring are both safer, I’ll be ready!

Wise. I must admit that while the current situation has caused me to cut back a bit, I’m still seeing regulars occasionally.

Great thread. I'm just retiring, finishing up my financials and also had to calculate my fun time expenses. As I was talking with my financial adviser he was a bit surprised at my discretionary spending amount and asked me. My comment was, I've enjoyed a custom of having flexible cash around for my fun, and want the same when I retire. Didn't go any further but it was obvious that close to $500 per week sparked his interest...
