Fortunately, if you look at the "all reviews" section for a given masseur on RentMasseur, prices paid are shown.

That feature gives a good idea of the rate(s), especially for those masseurs whose listing shows "ask"

Recently, I've noticed some masseurs getting in the $300-450 range.

Wow. (I don't know if those number include tips)

I'm noticing really high "rates" listed too; I'm assuming maybe either business is down (it must be down for so many) and some guys are hiking rates because they just have to survive. Or, I suppose they might want us to believe business is great and therefore they can raise rates. That just seems unlikely, especially based on some guys I know and what they've said about how things are now.

not sure how to word this so it doesn't sound too bad but....

There are some ads which im like how the HELL are you charging that much

But when guys like us pay it, it enables them I guess

Exactly. It’s a free market.

There are certain people who only buy products that are worth more than a certain amount of money. Same can be said for services.

Pricing certainly targets different niches.

Also, there are guys who have very explicit escort-worded ads on Masseur platforms With higher rates. Obviously these guys are escorting.

As do ads where the masseur says “Ask Me” in reference to his rates. And then there are the guys whose ad states a price but then once you are on his massage table engages in an upsell at a rate significantly higher than the rate advertised.

Upcharging is annoying and kills the mood, But the same can be said about Clients who hire masseurs who only advertise massage services, that then try to take advantage of the massage session as a “bargain escort” session.

I’ve noticed that with guys that post new ads a few days old. These guys are definitely “not up to par with the competition” and are asking outrageous amounts. This just sends me a signal they’re amateurs looking to make a quick buck and disappear #AVOID

Good thread. The conventional wisdom is when the economy is bad prices go down. First more people get into the business to make ends meet so there is a supply glut. Second, with the economic uncertainties people will pull back on spending. The pandemic has thrown a whole other layer to that with people forgoing massages due to social distancing concerns. I got to believe business has not been good over the last couple of months. I’ve definitely cut back but did sneak out to see one of my regulars last month and he confirmed business has been really bad. He used to see 2-3 clients a day and more on the weekend. Now it might be one a day or several days with none. His price hasn’t changed, I don’t think him lowering his rate would make a difference right now since he already charges a reasonable rate.
