Are there any other ways you get yourself out there and make yourself available?

Specifically asking if there are alternatives to Rentmen or Mintboys?

Social media is probably one of the most underrated platforms. A number of providers have excellent twitter and instagram accounts. I am guessing Onlyfans is another emerging platform.

The tricky thing about a site like Twitter is that you actually need to be able to craft a tweet to make it truly work.

Bad social media is much worse than no social media at all.

I still don't understand Instagram lol. I mean I'm on it and have followers on it, but it's so generic that I've found myself toying between entertaining friends, potential fuck buds, all while having a client here and there mentioning their existence on it. All the while, trying not to show any nudity lol. Twitter is more raw and uncut, and I seem to attract more hits from it than Instagram.

I must add that in person advertising still goes a long way. I can't count how many guys (and women) chat me up in public as if they want something lol. I have sense to know not every interaction has a sexual connotation, but in a gay environment... I've more than once turned it into a client situation. But it's rare. Like once every 2 years.

I also carry biz cards that are quite oblivious, in the event the internet comes crashing down on sex work (I trust Kamala, but I don't trust Kamala lol).

There's also grindr and scruff sites, but with my lower level of tolerance for nonsense, I haven't posted on those in months. Then there's Adam 4 Adam, which I'm just barely hanging onto to that. At $30 it's the cheapest site in theory, but one has to have a good filter and high tolerance dealing on there.

I recently started using A4A. I have met a few clients from that site, but as mentioned, there are a lot of fake/scam profiles that you need to filter through. The nice thing about the site is that they openly welcome advertisers who pay the reasonable fee. Scruff prohibits solicitation, and so I list my profession as "masseur" but say nothing else about it. If someone reads it and asks me about it, I give my cell phone and then talk with them offline about it.

I have thought about posting a print ad in the classified section of our gay newspaper. Partly I want to do it just to support the paper, as these are slowly becoming extinct. I also wonder if there are some "old school" guys out there who might still read the print ads but do not use the internet as much.

Has anyone else done print ads, and what has been your experience?

I wish you guys could still advertise on Craigslist. I’surprised another site hasn’t come along to fill the void.

Please!

BP and CL were the fastest way to get mugged!

full of bottom feeders (cheap clients), dealers, PNP, etc.. It was the lowest yet some clients kept on taking risk searching (hunting) for a diamond in the rough.

it gave a bad name to escorts and Johns, thank God CL and BP are gone!

Not so quick to rejoice though: It was case of, as @Benjamin_Nicholas once described: throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Yes, they weren't the best sites BUT...I met a plethora of good guys thru BP and CL. Oftentimes for the same rates that i can ask on Rentmen.

Remember: they didn't go away by popular demand. They were forced closed or intimidated to close by the government...aka, land of the not so free: as a result of the continued criminalization of sex work. That's also why rentboy, men 4 rent and hour boy also went under.

That reminds me I should get back on scruff. Grindr just sucks all the way around for trying to get biz. But I do remember scruff getting tedious at various points as well. Might of gotten warned or banned here and there after discussing biz on the site. So you're right to just leave a number and keep it moving.

I feel Adam 4 Adam has fucked themselves over again by changing their city locator feature.I've wrote to them before that the county listing sounds ridiculous, almost like a sheriff or police department at that. They haven't changed it. But I noticed biz from the site is continued to be deader and deader. Can't even recall the last time I've gotten a serious client from there. Maybe back in October.

My ad just expired this week, probably won't renew until next year. Hell, I may just be done with it period. Only seems to work well in a select few markets, or if you keep steady interaction on it... sometimes I've found contacting random guys directly helps.
