I’ve amped up my hiring experiences and am locked in to two trips with multiple providers. One in December, and another in January.

They both come with hefty price tags and multiple boys.

Do you think it’s ok to require each guy to get tested for stds within 3 days of departure? Is it reasonable that if they fail, their invitation is revoked?

These are mostly guys that have traveled with me individually before, with some new ones that come highly recommended sprinkled in.

I know this is a hobby with specific risks and I bare a level of responsibility protecting myself, I just think because of the price tag this may be an ok ask.

Thoughts?

Ummm ... I would say that your could request/require them to get tested BOTH for STD's AND COVID - although the covid test should be a few days earlier, followed by quarantine. If i recall, you feel that a bout with COVID left you immune, ... and you might request the guys to take the precautions to protect each other.

You hire. You dictate the rules.

As long as they are clear and given well in advance before hiring I don’t see a problem. They can also decline or accept your proposal.

While you hire and are free to do this, most STDs take longer than 3 days to show antibodies - usually 7-10 days. That’s why they say if you feel like you’ve caught something, to not get tested immediately and wait a few days after. So if you want to do this, 3 days may not be a big enough window.

and while it may calm your nerves, the only way this is really foolproof is if you require the boys you hire to abstain from sex from the time they get tested until the trip. That may be the harder part.

I'm wondering if this hassle is worth it for your or the escorts? Doctors don't usually test for herpes unless there's an active rash, so a standard STD test wouldn't catch that STD. And, as others mentioned, there are windows within which tests for other STDs will come back negative even though the person is infected.

Aside from herpes, other unwanted party favors you might leave your sex party with are treatable. Well, all other STDs except for HIV...and if you're planning to bareback without being on PrEP, then you might consider using some of your party funds to get yourself a prescription for it.

DoxyPrep is now also a "thing". 100mg / day for the duration of your trip will > 70% prevent the bacterial STDs.

There are treatments for both herpes and HIV. There are cures for many other stds. Just nitpicking I know but words are important.

I take it you meant “bear a responsibility” and not “bare”. Or was that a Freudian slip indicating something else you had in mind?

But to your point, I always enquire as to the health status of a provider I intend to see and give them mine as well. I am also prepared with my own documentation on my status and they should be as well. If you want to check it in person when you meet, that is your prerogative, as it is their’s to see the client’s. That way everyone can be confident.

But like anything in life, things can still go wrong. Depends on your level of risk tolerance.

I know not related to this thread but doesn’t that contribute to antibacterial resistance and continue to lead to superbugs?

The research studies do not show that. There are 2 Doxy Prep options, 100mg daily (if very sexually active) or 200mg the day of/after sex. Google it for more detail.

This is the right regimen for a small group of people, but isn't (yet) being considered for widespread script.

The two things that remain problematic are pill fatigue and drug resistance.

If people piss and moan about taking one pill a day for PrEP, think about adding another one and see how compliant they remain.

Herpes and HIV carry with them unfortunate and unwarranted stigma and mental suffering that most people want to avoid. So I don't think treatments are functionally equivalent to a cure when it comes to talking about those STDs. But I do agree that pointing out that there are treatments is generally helpful.

So update. Both guys were willing to take tests within a week of departing and didn’t make me feel ashamed for asking. I offered to do the same. We’re all booked for our Mexican adventure and I’m excited to have something to look forward to.

The real issue is that you're giving them a full week of possible infection (for STDs, sure, but more likely for COVID).

If you really want this to be more than window dressing, do it the way Hawaii is doing it: 48-72 hours before flight, negative PCR.

We’re aware of the risks posed by covid 19 and have adjusted our plans in a way that works for us and follows all current CDC guidelines and respective state rules. Go Hawaii though. Very smart.

I feel it's important to get tested before a trip and abstain from sex between the test and the trip. In the same vein, I feel responsible for taking a COVID test before sexual encounters and am even more serious about isolating and abstaining between those results and the occasion. Risking exposure to STI's and COVID is not worth the sex or contribution it provides - especially in comparison to a trip. Besides, I'm getting laid on the trip so what is the rush? My COVID results are ready typically within 12 hours, and in order to feel safe before a trip I pay for Talent Testing Services to have my results in under 24 hours - or a free clinic with fast results, if available. Which, BTW, aren't very available right now. It is not easy to get tested right now, and results are often taking longer than usual.

I've barely worked this year, but I took a trip that made me uncomfortable because the other participants didn't follow the same guidelines. They'd been tested, but it turned out some had sexual encounters and ignored COVID guidelines between the test and the trip - as well as during the trip. One thought because he'd had COVID he had nothing to worry. I find this selfish and negligent. They thought they were being careful enough, and I felt like I was putting myself and the at risk.

In the end, I had not been clear or adamant enough about how important these guidelines are to me. So when I expressed concern, it was already too late. In the future I will be more clear and diligent in maintaining and advocating for these standards.
