Perhaps not the right forum for this, I wasn't sure.

What's the largest single amount of $$$ you've lost to some sort of provider-related scam? Not limited to escorts, but cam actors, onlyfans, etc. Not asking for names, just curious. I wonder how many of us have some cringe-making experience or other.

Mine would be the $300 I "lent" to a young man to "make his rent", with assurances that he'd pay me back by the end of the month and give me a free cam show as well. Needless to say, I never got the money back and the free show was quickly forgotten about. Lesson learned.

A little over $700 (cost of the plane ticket and hotel I booked). I spoke of the popular escort before, but the guy in question was in contact with me via email right up until the day before we were to meet. Meet up day came... no show and he ghosted me.

Ouch, out the money and the trip - that sucks.

SCORTS ARE NOT E.N.T'S THERAPISTS DENTISTS OR LAWYERS ETC, THOUGH LOSS OF THEIR TIME "CAN" BUT RARELY DOES COST THEM ACTUAL $$$ MUCH AS THEY DECRY IT DOES, THE WHOLE LINE OF "I BEEN BURNT CLIENTS FLAKE I PASSED UP A GIG YADA YADA THAT'S WHY I NEED A DEPOSIT PRIOR TO MEETING OR EVEN FULL PAYMENT ETC ETC DOESN'T FLY WITH ME AND NEVER WILL. 99% OF THE TIME IT'S A CLIENT WHO AGREES TO THAT DEAL WHO GETS BURNT. A popular LA Adonis provider who I've hired several times before asked me for a $1,200 advance for 4 sessions. We have done that before so I trusted him and gave him the money. Then he ghosted me.

When I reached out he told me he had got married, had found Jesus and affiliate marketing and no longer needed to escort.

It's all a lie b/c he's still seeing clients on the DL while posting on Instagram screenshots of how much money he supposedly makes online.

Still don't know why he scammed me / singled me out if I was such a reliable client. ☹

In most of those other professions, the provider is not out any money for a missed or cancelled appointment (at least not directly or fully). Lawyer's and doctors will still bill for the appointment in some cases, and get paid by the client's employer or insurer. Doctor's offices always overbook to make sure a missed appointment doesn't mean time is lost seeing paying patients. Generally, those appointments are rescheduled, too, so it's not a loss but a shift in timing. In addition, unless you're a solo practitioner, you get paid by your employer or share in the profits of the practice such that any single cancellation has no effect on your income. With escorts, it's a different matter.

About 25 years ago I hired a guy to come in from Dallas for an overnite. I had not met him previously but he was very hot and had

decent reviews. I have never hired for more than an hour since, unless I knew the guy. As agreed I gave him half up front when he

arrived (via plane). He looked great!

After we talked a half hour or so, I went to the bathroom in my apt. and he bolted, bag and all. I knew he had to probably go

to the airport so I went there (which was before all the security gate stuff). And there he was at the Southwest gate going back home.

He looked shocked when I appeared!! I told him quietly that he needed to give me every cent back or I would make a scene and

security or cops would be there in a minute. He gave me all of it! (I would not likely have made a scene, but it worked). His ad disappeared

soon after this!

My only worst experience was with Mike-guy from New York back in the 1990's. He was visiting San Francisco and advertised in the B.A.R. I liked his look and booked a time. He was staying at Vaseline Arms on Sanchez Street in the Castro. I remember he had a bandage over his calf muscle. Anyway, I paid up front for the first, and only time, and we began. Suddenly, he wanted to move over here . . . .let's do it over there . . . and on and on. Finally, I had enough went to take back some of the money and he was pissed. He threatened to throw me through a wall if I touched that money. It was really bad. So, I left unsatisfied and out some money.

I wonder how much of these scams come down to sociopathic tendencies? Knowingly harming or hurting someone without remorse/little remorse and still going through with the act is considered anti social behavior. Many times brought on by very bad childhood trauma.

I met an escort in florida about 8 years ago in a coffee shop. Went out on actual dates with him for a few weeks. never a hire situation. Then I saw the ugly. Talked openly about how he wanted expensive things for his house. He would basically blackmail his clients if he knew they were married to give him money for his projects. Incredibly sweet and charming at first. Then the monster quickly reared its head. After those stories and saw those actions I said "bye bye". This man went beyond sociopath into psychopath realm!

I think my worst was $200, local “kid” who I’d met before 2-3 times....I’d always left the donation on a table top in plain view. On his last visit I went to the restroom, came back out and he and $200 were gone!

$20 or so a couple times when I prepaid “gas money” etc. EVERY time I did that I knew it was a mistake ahead of time but felt I was getting $20 of entertainment listening to the fiction leading up to sending the money and getting blocked/ignored.

Lessons learned, experience gained even after doing this for 30+ years!

For me, if it’s in advance it’s via PayPal. And I assure you I’d have zero issue contesting the payment with PayPay. I may not use the terms top and bottom. But, time and companionship, absolutely. Give cash I only do in an envelope for after performance.

I'm curious as to how common blackmail is among clients/providers. The practice of blackmailing can be a sure and swift manner of making oneself worth more dead than alive.

a story this psycho/nut job told me was he had a client that was married. an attorney. the escort actually knew the family of the client. so after a few sessions the escort/whack job said he wanted to remodel his kitchen. he asked the attorney for a "loan". when the attorney said he didnt have the money for the escort, the escort then said "thats too bad. it would be really awful if your wife learned about what you have going on with me." after that, i think the escort was in the process of getting the funds. another story was with an accountant. the escort asked for a $5000 advance of sessions since he wanted new furniture. the accountant "loaned" him the money against future sessions. well... the escort then started inviting the accountant to house parties, cooks out etc, which he went to. after a few actual sessions the accountant wanted to know how much was left. the whack job said "we are just about done". the accountant said "what?... you have to be kidding". the escort said "do you really think i would ask you over to my house for parties for free? that was part of the fees". what recourse did the accountant have?

when i heard these two stories i said ....."goodbye"!

Oh yes, being charming is a key part of the predator's skills. You let them in close and then they put the bite on you.

I hate admit it, but $4000. It was 7 years ago. I contacted a well known escort/cam guy in Las Vegas to come to Ohio for a week. He wanted half up front, which wasn't an issue. My dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had to have his kidney out that week. Needless to say, he declined to reschedule saying I was a flake. I explained the $4k was not a deposit. I was willing to compromise and split it. It went bad quickly. I never got any of it back.

Sorry you went through that - I hope your dad was ok.

I've had several guys, previous hires, contact me asking for money for various reasons/excuses (rent money, medical bills for mother, etc.), all with promises of a fun time next time we meet. I've never fallen for it. Most of the time, it means an automatic block from my side.

The closest I've ever come to this was a session where the escort was not able to perform as promised, but he said he'd give me a freebie "next time we met." We still fooled around a little, but it was a disappointing session overall and he knew it. So, we met up again not long after (within a month?). I should have reminded him when I set of the appointment but I didn't. I arrived, we chatted and I reminded him while we were getting undressed. He said something about how he could give the freebie only mid-week, not on a weekend. I said I wish I had known there were restrictions and mid-week usually isn't convenient for me. He still said I'd have to pay for that day and schedule the freebie for another day. I said no, got dressed and left. I wasn't out of money, per se, but he definitely wasted my time.
