Apologies at the outset if this is the wrong place for this discussion…

Who here has had a positive experience on an Atlantis cruise? Who here has had a disappointing experience on an Atlantis cruise? Is it worth it? Is there any way to get around paying the kings ransom that the website shows it costs?

I’ve thought about engaging an escort to accompany me for an Atlantis cruise, but the cost is so very expensive, particularly given that I would also have to compensate the provider and cover everything for him. Of course there’s the option of any run-of-the-mill cruise, but the Atlantis cruise has always held a certain appeal to me for obvious reasons.

What say you?

All my friends who have been on Atlantis cruises have loved it. Atlantis cruises, especially the Caribbean one, is just another party on their annual gay calendar. They usually go as an entourage of 10-15 people and organize their outfits according to the parties they plan to attend. It seems like lots of fun. Some friends have even met their husbands on these cruises. I however, am not a cruise person. I prefer traveling to a city and enjoying it by researching activities ahead of time and exploring cultural /historical aspects of the city. However, if you prefer to have things catered to you, cruises seem the way to go. As with any trip, inviting an escort you are familiar with and are comfortable spending time together in a small cabin would be my only concern. That along with the myriad of temptations for you and the escort would give me pause in hiring an escort, unless you guys communicate and set expectations and boundaries etc... ahead of time.

I've done both RSVP and Atlantis. To me, they both feel outdated and play to a demographic I don't quite understand.

That said, unless you know an employee at Atlantis and can get their very small discount, there's no way to bring the price down. If you're looking to bring an escort with you on a cruise, you're much better off doing a normal boat and spending more for a better cabin/ship. To me, the premium you pay on Atlantis just to be able to be trapped on a floating gay bar isn't worth it. YMMV.

If I had to cruise in a GLBT accepting environment, I'd much prefer a line line Virgin or Viking.

What hot escort is going to with you on a gay cruise and not also be very popular with others on the cruise? Will he resist other hot guys who want him in their beds? Other customers? Will that be okay with you? After all, you want him to have fun on the cruise as well...

I mean, I've done plenty of these cruises with clients: It's really just a frank conversation as to what the expectation is.

If your client wants you to himself, that's what you do.

If he wants to use you as bait to bring in other guys, there's that.

If he's fine with you fucking around as well as the personal time he gets, that's fine.

There's also the option on him being the anchor client for the trip, paying a lower rate and allowing you to see other clients (ie, pax) on the side. The problem with that is that there's no guarantee of that being a financial success and the escort has to make sure to be incredibly discreet. Even a mega ship is a small bubble. The captain would have the right to kick a pax off the ship for suspected prostitution.

Found this online...

It goes back to the days in airline transportation when everything about a flight was sent to the destination airport/airline by Telex. The number of characters you could send in a single message was limited…not unlike Twitter and text messaging. The “x” appended to something that was an abbreviation was the sign that it was an abbreviation—there were others, such as Wx for “weather.” Since the term was fairly obvious and convenient, it got picked up by other forms of transportation, and even hotels!

Who here has had a positive experience on an Atlantis cruise?

Me. They can be quite fun. I’ve said it before but Atlantis cruises, like most thing in life, are what you make them.

Want a 24/7 floating gay whorehouse? Easy. Want a week of quite monastic solitude? That’s a little harder but it

can be done as well. It’s really up to you. My advice? Pace yourself. Take days ‘off’. Take the opportunity to

explore outside your comfort zone. Force yourself to be social with strangers. And you’ll have fun.

Who here has had a disappointing experience on an Atlantis cruise?

Me. The nonstop gay, gay, gay can get tiresome. Mix in 1,000 midwestern homos having their annual “big gay

experience“ and you’ve got a recipe for a very tediously GAY week. Nonetheless, I’ve never had a “bad” time

on one. There’s something for everyone.

Is it worth it?

That‘s hard to answer. Depends on how much you value a 98% gay environment. The entertainment tends to

be above average. Although nothing you couldn’t find in 100 NYC cabarets on a good Saturday night. It’s miles

above typical cruise ‘entertainment’. The parties are fun. The eye candy is endless. The food is typical crappy

cruise fair. The excursions are typical crappy cruise excursions, with a bunch of middle American homos.

Is there any way to get around paying the kings ransom that the website shows it costs?

There are “resale’ websites. Typically you’ll find a few suites listed by men who purchased a room, but

for whatever reason can’t go on the cruise. The demand is so high however I’ve never seen a great deal

offered. Maybe very close to the sail date when desperation sets in. No one wants to eat the entire cost

of an $8,000 cabin.

On a side note, I’ve met several men on cruises who were obviously traveling with an escort. I’ve never

seen it end well. I’m not saying it can’t be done. I’m just never seen it. It‘s too close, for too long, with too

much temptation.

I’ve wondered about that too, so many available thirsty guys...I suppose if you were going with escort, you’d have to get the unsavory money talk and expectations talk out of the way long ahead...

I rarely think about going on gay cruise BUT the idea of traveling and bringing along a hot companion might be interesting

I am a voyeur at heart. - the prospect of bring a professional with me AND agreeing that any hookups be done in our cabin with me watching would be very hot.

I have been on a number of them (Caribbean, Mediterranean, Mexico). Always went with my partner so can’t comment on how it would be with an escort! Some good experiences and some mixed but on balance enjoyed them. My understanding though is that there are not going to be any cruises before Summer 2021 and these will be in Europe.

Type the words Atlantis cruise in the search box. There's quite a lot to read.

At some point, us newbies would like to have a conversation of our own about a topic and not resurrect an ancient thread. If the topic revisited in a new thread is tiresome, you don’t have to participate.

Personally, I had a good time with Atlantis but had an even better time on inaugural VACAYA cruise to P-Town in 8/2019. I liked the wider range of men on the VACAYA cruise than you might find on an Atlantis cruise (in my experience), and loved the fact that VACAYA established a dedicated "red-light" district on the ship between 10pm and 5am (something that didn't happen on the March 2019 Atlantis cruise). I had fun on both, but the VACAYA cruise had a different vibe than the Atlantis cruise. And if you're going on a cruise with a bf, don't make a joke about possibly seeing clients - it'll go over like a lead balloon ???

VACAYA looks a lot less annoying than Atlantis.

Muy interesante.
