I'm not sure if this is a taboo topic, but I'm curious. I know that escorting gets classified as the exchange of a person's time for consideration, and is NOT solicitation per se, but do escorts still have brushes with law enforcement, and how problematic is it? I'm thinking primarily of people in the US, but of course any input is welcome.

No, it’s not a taboo topic and we have talked many times about it. Unfortunately with very few exceptions there wasn’t much useful information.

Examples:

https://www.companyofmen.org/threads/pittsburgh-warning.115830/page-2#post-1127448

no basic information was provided in those threads that are the ones I can remember. In the first thread it was like the OP had a blood oath NOT to say anything about it even though is was all a hearsay. Where it happened? How it happened? Was he contacted by an undercover agent in a mainstream site? No information at all....

I would just say be careful/cautious in Vegas, Oklahoma and Miami.

Then there a lot of men and women in loveless marriages and also just dating that are guilty. Lol

Not really on topic, unless you consider paying a "date" a set amount for his/her "time". Romancing someone with gifts, meals out, etc, isn't solicitation, but money for sex is. There are other situations where wealthy "marks" are strung along by con artists pretending to be in love with them. That's more fraud than solicitation. I think the clearest answer to the OP's question is this: stating that it's money for time only is a nice attempt, but ultimately won't make any difference if the law really pursues a case. The likelihood of that happening is fairly slim, but that's a matter of probability of legal action being taken and not of some clear cut legal defense.

What I mean is this .... there are a lot of people that marry just for money. Yes, it has all the legalities of marriage, but mainly comes down to long term prostitution.

Example: I guarantee my step mother wouldn't have married my dad if he wasn't a wealthy widower with no child care requirements. Not in a million years. And every month, he paid her credit card bill for 25 years until he'd had enough of the farce. Now he's living with me. Guess who got the house HE paid for? And is paying alimony? Don't tell me she wasn't a gold digger. But if I pay a guy to stay in my hotel room, that's prostitution. Lol.

Knew a guy who dated a girl. She’s only gave sex when he bought her stuff or gave her money to go shopping. Had a huge laugh when he showed me her list of demands/wants for which sex act. Told him he was better off paying a prostitute or escort. He didn’t like that lol.. said it was different since they were in a relationship.

I get Vegas based on other posts. But curious about Oklahoma and Miami. Is there anything particular about those that state and that city?

a retired escort (Jay Holt) told me about Oklahoma and Miami. He was never caught even in Vegas but he was careful and only saw regulars in that town.

I'd have thought Texas would have been a "shoot first" sort of place, and a lot of the south.

Except New Orleans, folks from AL and Mississippi go there for fun.

In Atlanta, I know an escort who had a run-in with law enforcement. Essentially, he got caught up in something accidentally? His story didn't make much sense, but he doesn't speak much English, so it was hard to press him for details. It basically boiled down to: they searched him for illegal substances; he had no drugs on him and they let him go.

This is not the norm, just a cautionary tale. I've been operating in Atlanta for more than 5 years now and it's the lone tale I have to add to the conversation.

Now that, I believe. I was almost surprised that there were no dicks visible in those old Zatarain's commercials.

Thanks for insight. But to clarify are you saying the person was basically making the point that although he was caught up in something accidentally that the LE knew what his profession was, but at the end of the day they were primarily just concerned about illegal drugs?

About 15 years ago a San Francisco escort named Starchild was arrested when he went to the East Bay to meet a woman who contacted him via a Craigslist ad. He decided to not accept a plea deal and took the case to trial, where he was acquitted. I'm not sure why they singled him out for a sting or even if he was singled out, but I never read or heard about another male escort in the San Francisco Bay Area being set up in a sting.

That is exactly the way it was related to me. They knew he came in to give a "massage" and the details of expectations had been discussed through text, but he was not detained after they searched him and had a narcotics dog sniff him.

If I were to try and make a pattern fit the data, it sounded like he got involved with a sting operation that was casting a wide net and was just hoping someone would roll over on their supplier. This was just before a friend of mine who was a dealer got busted and ... I think he's still in jail. It's just my viewpoint that the two are related. It's entirely possible that my friend got sloppy and him getting jailed had absolutely nothing to do with the LE my provider friend encountered. However, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that my dealer friend had other provider friends and one of those providers had drugs on him when he was caught and that's how LE got my dealer friend.

Again, I can only confirm the facts of the situation. The rest is conjecture on my part. I don't like to do any drugs when I go to a client anyways. Too many times I've needed a clear head to make difficult or important decisions.
