Ever had them? Faggots and Peas? It's a classic British dish, not hard to make.

OK I confess. I had no idea what it was. Never heard of it until I noticed it on a take out menu. And yuck! Wouldn't touch it with a ten foot penis. Free social distanced handjob to the first guy who knows what it is without flipping to Wikipedia, et. al. And I know. Thread doesn't belong in the Deli. Or does it? Hummm?!!!

An excellent choice of menu item for your next PFLAG dinner. Round out the menu with some 'spotted dick' for dessert.

I've had these when I was visiting friends in the Midlands of England. A meatball by any other name but the "meat" comes from offal of pigs usually. I have to admit if given a choice between Faggots or Haggis, I choose Faggots.

Agree, had both (and have tried most offal) faggots more flavorful.

On the more serious subject of these faggots, I like most offal so I should look at trying to make some of them, and from the recipes I've seen they involve bacon, so they can't be all bad. I'm not sure that the ingredients would be available in most supermarkets. I've seen lamb and beef liver and hearts here but not pigs'. Perhaps a smaller specialty butcher's shop. I'm not sure how much of a thing the 'nose to tail' movement in meat consumption is in the US, but it is a thing here, even if not widespread. Its core principle is using the whole animal if you're going to kill it for food, so dishes that use parts of an animal that wouldn't be used in mainstream cuisine are relevant to it.

In a less serious vein, when googling I saw that facebook had deleted posts that used faggot in this context.

Like all things food related, it's all about the ingredients. Done well with good produce it's delicious. But I am British....

Almost looks delicious. Add a thick juicy sausage to that and some of you have a real meal deal. I'll stick to peas on my plate, and faggots in the bed. :)
