I have not been to PV and I wonder if any recent visitors can comment.

 

One question I have is whether this only involved domestic (Mexican) tourists and whether foreigners would be ignored for the purpose of kidnapping. Would foreigners in PV be more likely to face robbery/mugging for valuables?

Puerto Vallarta cannot handle a lack of trust by tourists. It often feels dangerous as it is. I have been there several times. Locals are basically kept out of the tourist zones unless working. It gives the place a Disneyland feel until you leave the zone.

Yes, I did. A fight started inside the gay bar and was taken outside, where one member of the group left and returned with a gun.

Did you read where PV is shutting down Oct 31-Nov 14? Beaches have to be empty by 3:30pm, all other businesses have to be closed by 8pm. No dine in restaurants. No Ubers after 10pm.
