At one time, good escorts agencies may have provided some basic information and guidance . But, there weren't many good escort agencies, or more accurately, escorts made more money on their own.

To be fair, a twenty-eight year old man I hired in Philadelphia from 1999 to 200 told me several times he would have been lost without the the stuff he learned at the escort agency. He continued to praise the agency for several months after leaving.

I'm honestly struggling to see what an escort would need to learn from an agency? What did they teach him?

The escort agencies made the appointment.

The good agencies had repeat clients

For young men, they could cencentrate on getting to the appointment on time and the appointment itself.

If there was a problem, the agency could provide advice. As could other escorts, especially in the rare situation when they had the same problem.

I was with an escort not too long ago who told me he started with an agent who had been a hookup for $. The agent set him up on RM with the appropriate profile and pics and took a commission for the first few months. Sort of like a real estate agent. The agent continued to get some serious discounts from the escort. After about 6 months they terminated the arrangement and the agent moved on. The escort told me it was very satisfactory from his view as he didn’t make any newbie errors and is now well established with great reviews.

I didn't take any money or anything from him, but I kind of gave some advice and support to a newbie escort in Denver. He was from Mexico and could speak English fine but his profile had numerous spelling and grammatical errors and was just not appealing in a lot of ways. He also priced his services really high for a newer escort without reviews and didn't really seem like he had a good grasp on how to appeal to clients. I kind of made an off-hand comment about how business was going so far and when he said it was pretty slow, I offered to help. He did improve his profile and things like that, but unfortunately this was right before COVID hit and I think he decided not to continue in the biz.

I actually feel like some beginner escorts could really benefit from like a brief class from a more experienced escort if mostly just about expectations, cutting off time-wasters, communication and pricing of services. Like some guys starting off are just wildly off on their per hour donations in my opinion.

I dream of the day when Rentmen launches an (edited) intro course where they onboard new escorts on a 1-2 weeks online program to teach them what you mention, plus other basics of good escorting, including that they should avoid PNP. It would make our (and their) experience much better and I'm convinced it could even increase profits for Rentmen. When best practices are the norm, there can only be better business results.

Standardization comes with legalization. Otherwise, this remains a fringe industry... with fringe practices, unfortunately.

I also wonder if legalizing prostitution wouldn't homogenize it to a point that a lot of guys would opt out.

You really can't teach common sense and long game thinking, which is a lot of what being a successful escort is. With youth, beauty and quick money usually come flip attitudes, a living-for-today mentality and some form of physical or mental addiction. Rare is the new escort today who takes a full customer service oriented approach while cultivating a strong stable of repeat, long-term clientele.

If COVID has proven anything in escorting, it's that those who have worked hard to care for themselves- and especially their clients- they will weather this with little issue while the turn-and-burn guys struggle to make it. Yes, there's currently an influx of new escorts, but they will quickly splinter off when they're unable to keep up with the demands of the business. This life isn't for everyone.

But now I've gone totally off-topic :)

Yes, probably certification was too much of a strong word. Maybe just a non-certified crash course so they don't make rookie mistakes at the start. I think it could benefit everyone.

Prostitution is either decriminalized or legalized or legally tolerated in many parts of Europe and Australia/New Zealand and there are plenty of guys that choose to both hire and work in the industry. When I visited England last year, I'd say there was more diversity and quantity of guys than in many parts of the US.

I would actually go the decriminalization route..basically remove all criminal penalties involved in prostitution between consenting adults but not allow things like brothels, pimps and other intermediaries that I think often lead to human trafficking and other issues.
