Is it safe to call directly from personal cell phone? Is there any other service to use that will hide your personal number??

What do you guys do?

Thx

Practically all masseurs respect client's privacy. You should have no worries using your own cell phone.

BUT DO NOT DO IT!!!! Some of these 'professionals' are amateurs and when they fall on hard times, they will do ANYTHING to get some money. I have had 2 crazy things happen in regards to this and I ALWAYS use a GOOGLE VOICE number. One threatened to OUT ME unless I gave him 1000's of dollars...said he knew who I was. I was like 'bitch, this is a burner number, This thing is about to be GONE and you will NEVER be able to get in touch with me again" GET. A. BURNER. PHONE. OR at LEAST a Google Voice Number!!!

Listen to this man, folks. A burner number (Google voice, text now, etc) is the way to go.

Thanks for the advice. Can you explain the steps to use one of the above listed text services that hide your cell phone number?

ive never heard of them and have no idea how to use them. Thx.

I use the "Burner" app. You download the app from the app store like all other apps. Once installed you are assigned a number that you can then use to text or call on via the app. You text the provider from the app and they will see the number the app assigned to you. Their replies are also sent to the app. They will not see your actual phone number. There is a nominal fee ($5 or so) on a monthly basis. It is pretty stable and user friendly. If you run into a jerk you can hit the "burn" button and the number goes in the trash - you are assigned a new number and off to the races you go! You can actually request multiple numbers so you can have a number for each provider; that way you don't "burn" a number that a recurring provider may be used to. You just burn the number used for that specific "jerk" provider. Very useful.

Burner App

I pay the $4-5/ month. Voice, text,(no videos ?) sent to the app on my existing phone. No extra hardware to carry. Can be password protected to open. Ignore any comments that a burner number is a “red flag” to providers. It’s not!

Just download "Textnow", you get a number for free (you can choose the area code, and they usually have plenty of 917's available). You can text and call for FREE. Google Voice can be a bit more complicated, although another EASY, FREE one is Textfree or Pinger. Quick and easy, and you get to choose the area code.

So TEXT NOW will hide your original cell number?? Did anyone use it? How is the experience? Also does it work on your cell connection and wifi?

Thx

I agree 100%. Other side, masseurs would have more business when they are young, handsome, beautiful. After 35 age or so, their business would not be that much. They would need other way of making money. Threatening might be other way of making money..

I have used my personal cell phone for over two decades for this hobby and haven't had any problems apart from some guys who send follow up texts for way too long in an effort to get repeat business.

I don't begrudge people who feel the need for greater anonymity, but I'm personally not concerned about being outed since I started my coming out process when I was still in high school over 40 years ago.

It’s also not so much as being outed for me. First reason is just keeping family/business phone separate from hiring phone. Even “out” people don’t always approve of those of us that hire.

Secondarily, it’s protection against that occasional whacky/stalking provider. I’m glad it hasn’t happened to you but it has for many others.

Since "text now" or "text free" is free, wondering is that worth to pay 5$ for "Burner" app? what extra "Burner app can do?

IMO there is nothing wrong with being gay. There is nothing wrong with hiring a masseur. What is there to hide?

Being blackmailed is a crime to be dealt with. Again, IMO there is nothing wrong with hiring a masseur.

Blackmail may be a crime, but it’s an unnecessary, time consuming headache to go through the process of reporting someone. It seems much easier to avoid that by exercising some prudence and using a separate number. Easy insurance!

I also use a text app. Always assume the masseur will look up your telephone number, like how you look up theirs. Sites like mylife (used to say, for free at least) if someone has court records (but this could mean divorce, bankruptcies, traffic tickets, etc.) I once had a fairly rich client who used his real name and phone number, and an otherwise unscrupulous masseur could easily take this guy down and make his life miserable. If the president of a major company knew his second in command was hiring escorts... oh boy right!?

I think part of the issue here is that people use "escort" and "masseur" interchangeably sometimes. This post is in the Spa section and the thread title mentions "masseur," not escort. I understand that if someone is closeted it might make his life difficult if it was exposed that he hired male masseurs, but for many of us it wouldn't be an issue even if a massage provider threatened to expose us.

I’ve had the same cell number for over 20 years and had never given this a thought or had a problem. Then in February, 17(!) years after the worst, weirdest massage of my life by the famous Johnny Montana in NYC, I get a text: “Hi from johnny back in nyc hope you are well”. This gave me pause.
