Have hotel protocols affected incalls at hotels?

I’m curious how new hotel protocols are affecting sessions at hotels.

I’ve read that hotels have shifted to reduce contact at registration. Some are requiring temperature checks to get in. some hotels have stopped housekeeping during your stay to reduce risk to employees and guests. With fewer guests, non registered guests would be more obvious, particularly if one guest has multiple non registered visitors.

What have people noticed?

Another wrinkle in the current conundrum

If i’m hosting at my hotel (which is how nearly 100% of my hires go down), I would just meet the guy outside the hotel (@ a sbux or just out in front) & then bring the guy into the hotel with me....he can just call me on his arrival outside or wherever.....not really a super inconvenient “wrinkle”.

I don't see how it would make a difference. When you're staying in a hotel/motel, AFAIK it is perfectly permissible to have guests in your room. They don't care what you're doing unless its seriously illegal.

Some hotels like the JW Marriott DC won't let anybody walk into the lobby of the hotel without a key card, before not even the elevator required using one. I'm sure other hotels do similar things considering they don't have the volume of guests and employees they had before.

I’m concerned about the hotel doing some sort of contact tracing.

Only if forced by the government.

Once when I was staying at a hotel in a large downtown, workers vetted everyone who came in. I had to go down, meet the provider, and flash my hotel keycard to get back up on the elevator.

That's the only hotel stay where that happened to me. It wasn't fancy either (I think it was a Holiday Inn).

Hotels don't want to upset their guests, especially if those guests are loyal elites.

Sure, there are new protocols in place, but most of them are just window-dressing. Easily bypassed with a little planning.

Of course - who would object to "my nephew" stopping by for a visit? Family is important! ;)

Still don’t see how one could hire an escort while social distancing measures are still in place.

I’ve gotten to the point of contacting two or three visiting providers during the lockdowns. I’m grateful that my upper head prevailed and I did not go through with the booking and apologized to the provider.

Contact tracing is the responsibility of local health departments in most cities, state health departments in rural areas. Public health authority can be delegated to others to permit them to do contact tracing, but that typically means a clinic or medical center. It wouldn’t mean a hotel. CDC agents involved if there is a large local outbreak and they are asked to help.

My point, we're just slightly "reopening" the DC area.

Looks like everything will be shutting right back down though, thanks to 1 idiot ??‍♂️ Bet there won’t be any “stimulus check” or SBA loans for that. Guess the insurance companies are going to need a bailout next ?

That said, I did stay in one of Marriott’s smaller quieter hotels the other week, and they did mention only registered guests in the room. However, this was new because I had stayed there couple months ago and that wasn’t imposed. I didn’t have any issue my first day up, but I did notice the next day the front lobby was locked, and front desk just manually opened it.

However since then, I’ve stayed in a couple other hotels and haven’t had any issues. So it’s likely to be a hotel by hotel basis. If push comes to shove like that again, one may just need to physically go down and meet...and go back in a door not connected to the lobby.

Some of the stuff going on is overkill (no pun intended). If someone is a single guest, or if a client is wearing a mask thru the halls; the chance of risk to the hotel is relatively low, not much more than any other guest checking in.

This is a great safety measure as well. You can get a quick feel for the guy see if there are any potential red flags.

  • 2 weeks later...

I guess I wonder if there are 2 sets of providers now: 1) "I can live with the risk, life is a risk, and I'm not careless," and 2) "I'm out of money, I need to start working again so I will, but I'm worried too."

The latter have been contacting me fast and furiously for the past month. My condo does not allow guests yet. .

There are a lot of people who are willing to live with risk. And guys who want to minimize risk by keeping their circle of contacts small. Not long ago, a guy on a hookup site proposed that we be exclusive FBS for the duration. It was an attractive offer- great looking guy, we'd proably be sexually compatible, but I'm sitting out the pandemic. Any time I'm tempted, I remember the hunky nurse who went to a circuit party and ended up on a ventilator for weeks.

Sounds like you need a new board.

Hugs,

Greg

I’m on the board... :( but, rules are rules.. The majority are comprised of the velvet mafia. Board meeting coming up soon, will have to raise it as NYC has already entered phase 1....Living alone in a bubble is quite confining... need someone to penetrate the bubble.

I recently visited my sister who was staying at a local hotel here. The place was beyond deserted, and I've never felt so conspicuous walking into a hotel ever. And this was just to meet my sister! So if you're a discreet kind of guy, just be prepared the experience might be a bit different than what you're accustomed to.

But as others have mentioned, the hotels don't want to upset their guests, and I'd expect that's now more than ever.
