what he does not get is any sympathy from me....in his interview answers, he’s been traveling the world.....spending on average at least 250 nites per year in hotels.....& from some of the pics appears to enjoy some semi-pricey hobbies.....apparently he might not ever have saved much for the proverbial rainy days.....& before his unemployment benefits from being laid off would have ended, his last, errrrr first resort is to request, errrr beg for charitable donations.....this able-bodied dude should go out & get a job.....just my 2 cents worth....which i’m keeping away from him.

Perhaps. On the other hand, how many 31 year olds do you think have saved up an emergency fund? Most guys his age just don't plan for a downturn - they make hay while the sun is shining and forget about the coming storm. It just makes him...normal. I mentor a number of young people at the office and this is one of the first things we discuss. If he was a regular of mine, I would consider helping him out. Yes, I am probably a bit of a softy.... :)

first off being 31 yrs old is a lot different than early 20’s.....by 31, some amount of maturity about life & saving & goals should have kicked in.....

also his wording kind of said to me - “ give me a handout cuz i would hate to risk a client’s health but i would hate to have to risk my own health by escorting even more”.....

& btw, over the years for different reasons & in a variety of ways, I’ve been happy to be generous & helpful to some hires ( guys ) I have allowed into my life....I have to admit, they have also been ummmmm, “helpful” back to me as well ;)

It's commendable that he acknowledges the risks associated with COVID, but the way he expresses it rubs me the wrong way. It reads to me like it's society's responsibility to ensure he doesn't meet with clients... though he probably doesn't mean it to sound that way. It might be better for him to simply say that he would appreciate donations to help support him in these difficult times since he can't, in good conscience, risk his health or the health of others. Perhaps also mentioning that he is looking for additional employment after being laid off could go a long way in generating positive responses.

Here's another responsible ad! I reviewed him last year on Daddy's, I tried to hire him in mid March and again today, he told me "I'm sorry but I don't think I should be taking chances exposing myself and others". He'll wait till the city reopens to resume seeing regulars like me first and new clients later.

I don’t think I’m so fast to judge. We don’t know if he or someone else, such as his work, is paying for the travel. For years, I traveled internationally first class, stayed in the best hotel suites, and ate at great restaurants. I didn’t pay a dime. (And, didn’t have much more than that to my name at the time!) Everything was paid by expense account, which in turn was paid by the clients.

As far as the ‘Out of Work’ thing, try singing “Get a Job” to the millions and millions on the unemployment lines. Or, he could just live on $1200 and ride it out!

The difference, however, was that the ad you posted didn't have someone asking for a pure handout.

Dario is a true professional. He's also a man who takes full responsibility for his health and the health of his clients. I am happy to be included as one of his regulars (who will joyfully relish his company again once this pandemic winds down!)

I don't think it's so easy to just "get a job" right now with millions out of work and a lot of businesses still shuttered or operating on severely restricted staff. That being said, with the federal stimulus package that did pass and get signed into law the guy should at least be able to collect enhanced unemployment benefits at this time. I know he lives in an expensive city, but the maximum unemployment benefit up there is more generous than it is where in California. I am not going to take the time to calculate how one qualifies for the maximum weekly benefit of $790, but assuming he was making (and claiming) a lot of income and he qualifies for that level of payment then in the short term he's getting $1,390/week in unemployment. I know that that still isn't a lot of money in an expensive city and that, at this point, that extra $600/week kicked in by the Feds is time limited, but it doesn't seem like the time to beg for more money.

How many Fortune 500 companies that posted a billion a quarter in profit. They can’t survive two weeks and need to be bailed out. It’s funny what we expect from normal people isn’t the same for multi billion corporations. I thought corporations are people??

I agree about personal financial responsibility, but we do not know his situation. Maybe he is in school or caring for his family. I escorted briefly to pay for my mothers hospital bills.

I am a massage therapist and a photographer. I was using my profits from massage to create a portrait studio. I didn’t have a rainy day fund as I was building two businesses at the same time and helping to care for my mom. We expect so much from people who are trying to survive. When big corporations are always waiting for the government bailout.

The government passed bills to help during the pandemic. Only 155 billion went to people. The rest went to big business and small business. I qualified for the PPP program but if I take those funds I lose unemployment. I ether keep my business open or pay rent. It’s a very difficult pill to swallow.

If he has a second job, and his escorting career, one would think he could be saving some money. If things were really tight, how is he traveling so much. Methinks he doth protest too much and a bit entitled. His ad has been around for a while.

Agreed!

Something similar happened to folks working for the Fed. gov. in January of 2019 because of the shutdown. I created a thread about it and it's not only interesting to see who posted but also those who simply ignored it, maybe they never had the good habit of saving for a rainy day or they simply couldn't put money aside for different reasons. Pardon me for going slightly off subject.

Trump’s shutdown threatens Friday payday. Would you be able to live without a couple of paychecks?

That's assuming he's being honest about the "day job".

I remember an escort who in 2005 posted an ad on the Washington Blade calling himself a Katrina survivor who recently moved from Nola to DC...

Answering your question, we must assume he did have a regular job and therefore he could claim some form of help because of unemployment.

Based on that I just find it curious why he feels entitled to donations. Basically it's..sure I have this but look at my life. I need more. Lots more!!

I'm pretty much in the same boat but would never think of internet begging. Then again I'm not much of a world traveler so maybe my expenses are just much lower.

Agreed!

I know escorts who are "reaching out" to their regulars asking "how are you doing?" but they're not openly asking for money.

Some are also trying to get paid now for bookings later after things go back normal, whatever that means to each.
