+ E.T.Bass
I thought the movie, Love, Simon, had some hard flaws. Maybe a TV spinoff can make up for it. Curious how to turn that kind of story into a TV series. There are 10 episodes, on Hulu, starting middle of June. Maybe some fresh themes will surface, but not counting on it. Love, Victor has the same writers as Love, Simon. The family sounds like they are latino and Victor's jock-y classmate is played by Cuba Gooding Junior's son Matt, so could be interesting. This is funny, almost bordering on a porno fantasy. Edited April 28, 2020 by E.T.Bass + WilliamM

+ E.T.Bass
So far, two reviews I've seen are kind, but both claim the show is too tame. Kind of makes sense though, since the production was originally geared towards a tamer audience. Does anyone have Hulu? I'm leaning towards skipping it since my device no longer supports the Hulu app and I'd need to watch it on my laptop.
+ Lucky
The young man playing Victor is impossibly handsome. I suppose that his pheromes will push me to get Hulu again.
+ E.T.Bass
I binge watched it. To me it is written for teens and 20's. Victor is a sweet Latino dude. He has a nutty neighbor that's pretty good. + Lucky
Guest MikeThomas
I loved this series. It’s actually well written, a little corny, a little saccharine, but it says some important stuff. I hope they do a season 2, or another Love, ______. Not all television needs to be edgy. Nice escapism.
+ Lucky
I signed up for Hulu so I could watch this. I lasted 7 minutes. The vibe is so Pollyanna. Does it get better?
down_to_business
Posted in another thread, but I enjoyed it very much and watched the entire season 1 in 2 days. Teared up quite a few times. Was already a fan of George Sear who plays Benji. They all do a pretty good job with the acting. Felix is probably my favorite character and then Benji. Also enjoyed some recurring actors as well as cameos. Take my recommendation, however, with the perspective of someone who enjoys High School Musical and Disney as well as much bolder stuff. You also have to keep in mind that when they did the series, it was originally scheduled to be run on Disney+. Season 2 (being scripted but not yet picked up from what I have seen) should be bolder as they are going to go into it knowing it is for Hulu and not Disney. down_to_business
Love, Victor has officially been renewed by Hulu for a second season!!! According to co-showrunner Brian Tanen, Love, Victor‘s writers plan to “push the envelope” in Season 2, now that the show is intentionally being produced for a Hulu audience. (Season 1 was initially meant to air on Disney+ but got relocated to Hulu during post-production, reportedly due to Disney’s discomfort with mature themes like drinking and sexual exploration.) “For me, it’s a gigantic win that we are on Hulu moving forward. It opens our ability to tell more adult stories,” Tanen told TVLine after Season 1 dropped. “We’d love to tell sexier stories. That’s going to be so much more exciting on a network like Hulu, which, since they’ve adopted us, have been so supportive of the show and incredible partners.” + E.T.Bass

+ E.T.Bass
I binged watched S2. If you find some of the lines are lame and the jokes crash like a lead balloon, you might want to keep going. it does get better. I liked how S2 captured some of the elements in the book that were ignored in the movie. That was smart, because the book (Simon vs. the Homosapien Agenda) was great. I could see Victor's story arc coming from a mile away, but that's OK. The last half of S2 I liked a lot. I'll be interested to see if Hulu orders S3. + RJD
I’ll admit to loving “Love, Simon,” especially this scene: And this one… Yes the movie is sappy, predictable and cute, but we should all have parents who tell us to exhale, that we’re still the same person we were before coming out, and that we’re loved. These two scenes get me every time. I’ve been watching “Love, Victor” on Hulu. I’m half-way through Season 2. A different family dynamic and it’s definitely exploring deeper issues than just coming out. I’m enjoying it and like that they have cameos by some of the movie’s characters. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s enjoyable. As an aside, Josh Duhamel is getting better looking as he ages. + WilliamM

The movie had Simon betraying his friends and doing some generally creepy stuff, way more than Victor has and way more than Simon did in the book. Then his friends drop him like a rock until the end of the movie. It was all too cold. Sadly, I think that is what sells though. Very CW-like. I hope Love, Victor doesn't stoop to such depths if there is a S3.

handiacefailure
Been binge watching it. I watched the first three episodes a few months ago on a Delta long flight (their IFE system had just the first three shows) and I loved Love, Simon and decided to get Hulu mainly just to watch this show since I'm not out much seeing my AmEx streaming credit covers it. Finished watching it last night. Sad to see it end. Anyone that watched Love, Simon knew how the series would end after five minutes into the last show. Plenty of nice eye candy. I wish they would have had a show where they had a GLSEN meeting since the parents attended PFLAG. I think it would have been nice at the end of the final show if they would have given out the name and phone number/websites for teens strugling for charities like GLSEN and Trevor Project as well. thomas

I see season 2 will be coming out in November
