Downloading Games

In another thread there is a lively discussion about various games one can download and play. Rather than interrupt that thread with off topic questions I'll bring them here.

 

1. I noticed one of the internet addresses offering these games had the .io extension. My question is, how great a risk is there for downloading malware and viruses with games from all these links posted in that thread.

2. Are these games best played on a desktop and laptop? Or will these play adequately on Android?
