Just saw Bullets Over Broadway...the relative newcomers (Nick Cordero and Helene Yorke) both steal the show.

“Waitress” actor Nick Cordero will have his right leg amputated as he fights for his life against the coronavirus, his wife said.

The 41-year-old Cordero — who is on a ventilator — needs the surgery to fix a blood flow issue, spouse Amanda Kloots said Saturday via an Instagram Stories post.

“We got some difficult news yesterday. Basically we’ve had issues in his right leg with clotting and getting blood down to his toes and it just isn’t happening with surgery and everything. So they had him on blood thinners for the clotting,” Kloots said.

“Unfortunately, the blood thinners were causing some other issues — blood pressure and some internal bleeding in his intestines. So we took him off the blood thinners. But that again was going to cause some clotting in the right leg, so the right leg will be amputated today.”

Cordero, a Tony Award nominee, has been sedated for 18 days and is currently in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California to battle against COVID-19.

Kloots had announced Thursday that her husband may not walk again.

Kloots, a former Broadway dancer and Radio City Rockette, has asked friends and fans to participate in daily “dance parties” while playing her husband’s song “Live Your Life” and using the hashtag #wakeupnick on social media, BroadwayWorld.com reported.

Tony-winning producer Alex Boniello announced a GoFundMe drive for Cordero on Twitter.

“Our friend Nick Cordero is currently in yet another emergency surgery related to his fight against COVID19. Let’s support him, his wife, and their lovely son,” Boniello wrote.

Yes - I saw this news earlier today. Just so sad. I hope he will come through this ok.

Wow he is only 41.

Super talented. Saw him multiple times in Bullets.

I'm really proud the Broadway community is rallying and doing incredible fundraising for him and his family. They take care of their own.

Nick Cordero could be turning a corner in his battle against coronavirus.

His wife, Amanda Kloots, announced on her Instagram Story Friday that her 41-year-old husband has tested negative twice for COVID-19, which could mean the novel virus has left his system.

“Good news, dada had two negative COVID tests. Yay!” the former Radio City Rockette told her followers as she held their son, Elvis. “Which means we think the virus is out of his system and now we’re just dealing with recovery and getting his body back from all the repercussions of the virus.”

She added, “But COVID is two negative tests, which means hopefully the virus is out of Nick. Thank god.”

The Broadway actor has been unconscious on a ventilator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for more than three weeks, though Kloots said this week that he’s “making progress” in his recovery after he had his leg amputated last weekend.

On Thursday, however, Kloots said Cordero should’ve “woken up by now.”

“The doctors said that there was nothing on the MRI that would show that he won’t wake up, which is amazing. We are so happy about that because that was a big worry for all of us,” Kloots said. “However, he hasn’t woken up and it’s been 12 days out of sedation.”

Nick Cordero has developed an infection in his lungs that went into his blood, his wife, Amanda Kloots, revealed Tuesday in the latest update on her husband’s coronavirus battle.

The Broadway actor, who has been hospitalized since early April and had his right leg amputated because of complications stemming from the virus, was also given blood pressure medication by doctors to help bring his pressure back up, Kloots said via her Instagram Story. Cordero, 41, is being weaned off that medication and has been given an antibiotic.

“He went into a little bit of septic shock, and the cause of that was some infection in his lungs,” Kloots explained. “So they went in and completely cleaned out his lungs.”

Kloots said the latest complication in Cordero’s recovery “kind of came out of nowhere.”

“He is back to feeling better, he’s resting, the antibiotics are hopefully kicking in,” she said.

On Monday, Kloots told fans that Cordero would be unable to come off a ventilator after developing a fever in the early morning. She said at the time that doctors were conducting tests to find the source of the fever.

“They are going to set aside the ventilator removal until they get this under control,” she said Monday.

Kloots has been keeping fans and followers updated on Cordero’s condition, saying on Friday that he had two negative coronavirus tests, which could mean the virus is no longer in his system.

“We think the virus is out of his system and now we’re just dealing with recovery and getting his body back from all the repercussions of the virus,” Kloots said at the time.

Kloots, who shares 10-month-old son Elvis with Cordero and is also a Broadway actor, vowed the couple “will dance again.”

Sara Bareilles and Jessie Mueller sing to help pay Nick Cordero’s hospital bills

The cast of Broadway’s “Waitress” is serving hope for actor Nick Cordero with a new video.

Sara Bareilles and a few of Cordero’s former co-stars dropped a cover of his song “Live Your Life” on Sunday — featuring Jessie Mueller, Keala Settle and Kimiko Glenn, among others — to help raise money for his hospital bills.

Cordero entered intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on March 31 with what doctors first thought was pneumonia.

His wife, Amanda Kloots, frequently gives updates on Cordero’s health on social media, and has in recent weeks encouraged fans and friends to record themselves singing the Elvis Presley song “Got a Lot o’ Livin’ To Do!” and “Live Your Life” with the hashtag #WakeUpNick.

The GoFundMe page for Cordero’s medical expenses has raised more than $450,000 so far.

Nick Cordero has holes in ‘severely damaged’ lungs due to coronavirus

The wife of Broadway star Nick Cordero has revealed there are holes in his “severely damaged” lungs amid his ongoing battle with coronavirus.

Amanda Kloots — who has spent weeks rallying support for her husband — said Thursday that her husband has “been thrown every curve ball he could be thrown” as she detailed via a video on Instagram, “Yesterday was a very hard day. He started off with low blood count. Luckily, Nick’s CT scans came back clear of internal bleeding as of now, so that was a huge blessing.

“However, we did learn that due to COVID, Nick’s lungs are severely damaged to look almost like he’s been a smoker for 50 years, they said, they’re that damaged. There are holes in his lungs where obviously you don’t want holes to be.”

The fitness trainer and mom to their baby son, Elvis, said doctors discovered this when Cordero’s oxygen count went down and they cleaned out his lungs.

She said the plan now is to scan his lungs with ink and take cultures, so they can put him on the right medication.

Cordero has already had his leg amputated and his friends and family are waiting for him to regain consciousness.

Kloots added that her husband’s doctor is “absolutely wonderful,” saying, “He told me if Nick was in his 70s, we’d be having a different conversation. He’s 41, he’s been fighting really hard.

“He told me if it was his brother in there, he would not be giving up hope, so I’m not giving up hope. Obviously, it was super scary news to hear.”

She said they are desperate to get him healthy and stable so they can give him a tracheostomy and get him off his ventilator, but have to work out his lung issues first.

Nick Cordero, 41, may be in the early stages of waking up from a medically-induced coma after his two month battle with coronavirus.

Cordero’s doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles have seen very small signs of eye movement and tracking — something that he has not been able to do since he went into the coma.

Amanda Kloots, Cordero’s wife, took to social media on Wednesday to share the news in an emotional Instagram story, calling “the best news they’ve gotten so far.”

“The doctor just called and said that Nick is showing very, very, very early, early, early signs of stages of tracking,” Kloots said on Instagram.

“The doctor just really thinks this is a great sign that he is starting to wake up.”

Just yesterday, Kloots reported that her husband had a “rocky night” when his oxygen levels went down. Cordero has been battling the virus since last month and had his right leg amputated due to some complications.

Kloots ended her update with the optimistic note that Mother’s Day is just around the corner and she hopes that her husband will wake up as a gift to his family.

“Maybe he will wake up for me and his mom,” Kloots said.

After battling coronavirus for more than a month in intensive care, Broadway actor Nick Cordero has woken up from a medically-induced coma.

His wife Amanda Kloots made the announcement on her Instagram story while holding their son Elvis. “Guys, we might have to change our hashtag to #CodeRocky because Nick — Dada — is awake!” she said.

Code Rocky is a term that medical professionals use to indicate when coronavirus patients are on their way to a full recovery. Kloots had previously been using the hashtag #WakeUpNick to spread the word about Cordero’s condition and show support for him via social media.

Kloots also gave more updates regarding Cordero’s condition in a separate post to her Instagram story, stating that he is still weak but following verbal commands.

“He is extremely weak, so weak that he can’t close his mouth,” Kloots wrote. “But he is following commands, which means mental status is coming back.”

Over the past few days, Cordero had started showing more signs of waking up and understanding commands. However, Kloots said in an Instagram Live video that they’re still preparing for a long recovery.

“You don’t want to get yourself too excited because it’s been such a road. That’s why I say it’s a very long road still…but we are the beginnings of recovery,” she said.

Cordero has been hospitalized since late March due to complications caused by coronavirus. After he was was initially diagnosed, doctors had to amputate his right leg due to blood clotting caused by blood thinners. He suffered even more health scares, including two mini strokes, a septic infection, fungus in his lungs, and he was given a temporary pacemaker for his heart.

Heartbreaking. So may of us were pulling for him. His wife was so brave and so generous in keeping the world informed about Nick's struggles. I can't even imagine her loss right now, and that their son had so little time with him in life. Rest in peace.

Very sad. Hopefully his notoriety will further publicize the real danger to all who contract this disease and undo part of the WH spiel that very few people die of this disease. As time is going by, we are also seeing deaths in patients who have cleared the virus but have had significant organ damage. Just this week, I had a 37 year old patient come in with a cold leg from a blood clot three weeks after he finally tested negative for CoVid after a prolonged illness. His leg was amputated, as was the case with Mr. Codero, but my patient's fate is likely to be better.

I am sure they would dim the lights on Broadway for him, but the virus has already done that,

Amanda Kloots has responded to social media followers who took issue with the fitness pro getting vaccinated following the death of her husband, Nick Cordero, last summer.

The daytime talk show personality, 38, shared a photo of herself receiving the COVID-19 vaccine Friday night, upsetting many fans, as only essential workers and residents over 65 are allowed to take the vaccine in Los Angeles at this time.

“Can you explain why you got the vaccine ahead of 65 yr olds and first responders here in LA that cant get them yet,” asked one follower, as another wrote, “inquiring minds want to know how you got your vaccine while those working in schools still cannot even book an appointment .”

Kloots amended her caption to address those questioning how she received the vaccine, imploring fans not to shame her for attempting to protect herself following the passing of husband Cordero, who died July 2020 due to complications from coronavirus.

“I went to a site and waited in my car until all appointments were over in hopes that they had any extra vaccines,” she explained. “I was fully prepared to be turned away, but they said they had enough tonight for everyone waiting. I cannot tell you how emotional I was and still am right now.”

She added, “I have been terrified since Nick has passed, as a single mother of getting this virus and now I am one step closer.”

She also addressed the backlash via her Instagram stories, saying, “First of all, vaccine shaming should not happen. Everyone should be getting this vaccine, and anyone that gets it, we should be celebrating that one more person has got the vaccine.

“I knew that I could possibly be turned away,” she continued, “but I drove [there], and I waited in a line in the hopes that at the end of the day, at the end of appointments, they may have extra vaccines that would otherwise be thrown out,” she said, teary-eyed. “And instead of being thrown out, they were put into an arm…an arm of a surviving single mother that deserves to have an extra vaccine that would have been thrown in the trash.

“So, sorry that I am getting a little emotional, but this was a very emotional experience for me. I was perfectly fine being turned away tonight if that was the case. I was actually prepared to be turned away. I was giving it a shot, and luckily the shot worked and they had availability and they were happy to have people there waiting with willing arms. And I was happy to be one of those willing arms.”
