it looks like the feature to message via email is gone completely and you are forced to “IM” now. am i the only one that finds this strange? it’s not like most pros are sitting near their laptop hoping to have a conversation via a messaging service. isn’t that wha texts are for. i preferred being able to hit up with a question or two before switching to text.

While the elimination of the email function on RM is mildly annoying to me I’ve been told by many providers that they seldom used the RM email service anyway. It’s my understanding that the vast majority of providers prefer a text or a phone call.

Of course, I’m curious about leaving a RM review now. Previously you had to have communicated via email with the provider in order to leave a review. I’m too lazy to try and figure out how reviews will be handled in the future. Perhaps an enlightened individual can let us know.

I’d be interested, though, in what providers think about the elimination of RM email services.

Interesting. I’m not a fan of messenger on RM and will just keep texting outside the site. I wonder if that would limit clients who leave reviews, if the RM admin wants to see proof of onsite interaction before allowing reviews to be submitted.

Th

And now they will probably refuse to post reviews if you haven't communicated with the escort using their messaging service.

That’s correct. I usually connect via phone text, but I tell escorts who I wish to review to look out for a post-session message from me via RM, then I’ll be able to send in a review. They’re always grateful for the effort.

I think for the most part your correct that providers seldom used the email option on RM. At the very least the notifications to alert us to new messages via personal email or text has always been flawed or slowed or non existent.

What I have noticed though, is an uptick in contact via RM instant messenger, most likely because prospective clients think it's going to be more fluid and instant, but it's not unless I happen to have my laptop open and on the site, and the notifications seem to be even worse than the email system.

Additionally, it opens up more possiblity for stalking.

I have at least 2 people who I actively avoid in San Francisco who consistently hit me up with various usernames and numbers. They contacted me on RM messenger and when I tried to delete their message I had to click on it to delete it, which showed on their end that I read it and continued to harass me that day because of that until I blocked their profile completely, which is something I don't normally do.

I liked the e-mail feature because they I could manage the conversation through a dedicated e-mail account that I only accessed by logging in on line. If I sent a simple SMS, then my phone number was floating around out there and I had the potential problem of my phone announcing a message at an inopportune moment.

I would give out my number once a date was set, but not before.

I may simply stop using RM. Fortunately most of my hiring is done outside of the US through Planet Romeo.

There was discussion somewhere about the privacy issues related to RM messenger. It may have been about the terms of service you have to agree to in order to use it.

I think concern for clients could/would be using the GPS option while logged into your RM Client profile and another concern recently discussed would be using the RM App. I do NOT use the GPS function at all and never had concerns with the email option but haven't used the Messenger option yet and I don't use nor do I plan to use the RM App at this point.

@keroscenefire stated in another thread he had used the new RM Messenger and liked it. Did you have to accept any terms in order to send a message. I attempted to send a message and did not notice any acceptance required, but I didn't complete the process.

I actually like the messenger. I was able to talk to a guy I'm going to meet up in Chicago on the messenger pretty easily I thought. We were able to set things up more quickly than I think we would communicating on e-mail. That said, I do like e-mail for some things.

To me, e-mail is great if you are visiting a city and want to message a few guys at a time just to suss them out and get a little bit of an idea if there would be a connection. This is often a week or more in advance so I feel more comfortable doing that than texting, which I sort of feel I like to do when I'm trying to make a more immediate connection. To me messenger was kind of a happy balance. Was able to communicate more directly and it still felt comfortable to do that even though I'm not going to be in Chicago until next week.

I already have a general Rent.men profile so I was able to use that to message. I think you had to have that for e-mail too. I definitely didn't need to register or do anything in addition to having a profile (which is really just the name connected to a junk e-mail address).

Many times, since the demise of Rentboy, but not always, my first contact with a provider has been via RM email. I provide info/questions at my convenience, and they responded at their convenience. I think the concept of RM's Messenger service is no better than just texting, which given the choice, I would rather just text, and bypass RM being the so called middleman. I dont see the point of it, and that icon that keeps popping up is annoying.

If a provider's ad doesn't have a phone number when I click "contact me", which just recently happened after viewing an ad, I'm inclined to just move on.

Anyone have issues with emails disappearing? I just noticed a bulk of my emails/messages from April - Nov 2019 have disappeared. This is really frustration considering most had important information as far as rates etc goes for providers.

All my emails are gone. And last time I looked at “Who I saw”, there were more than I remember looking at. it also said I had an IM. I don’t remember contacting him, yet I can’t figure out how to delete it. I hope some entrepreneur can swoop in and create a better format.

You might have been lucky to have them go back that far. Did you archive them beforehand?

Per Rent.men/about/im you would have had to archive them to go back more then 3 months.

Even if you did, I would suspect the switch from email to messenger would have erased some emails with some users despite that fact.

Yeah when I contacted the websmaster via IM they told me about the 3 month rule which I never about. Sadly I didn't archive the messages. Had I known about the 3 months I would've done so. Have a feeling the switch is what triggered this because I still have scattered messages from 2017, 2018 and early 2019 in my inbox.
