When hiring an escort, what tip does he expect? Does it matter if you hire someone from the internet, strip joint or escort service? Do you always give the same tip? It seems to me that if you spend two or three hundred dollars that is enought.

My limited experience has been that escorts usually don't expect tips.

If am very pleased with the experience I add a little something to show my pleasure and appreciation, never very much but something, words alone seem so cheap in this situation. But it is strictly a matter of individual style.

There is one caveat -- if the fee is already bumping my comfort ceiling, I settle for complimenting them with words, I figure the tip is built in. In this case if they aren't very good, needless to say, I don't schedule a return engagement.

I, for one, am alway amazed at the concept of tipping an escort. HELLO...do you tip your dentist? Your dry cleaner? The train conductor? These people all provide a service. Tipping a waitperson or bellhop is different, since they are probably making $4 an hour and their livelihood depends on tips. But after shelling out upwards of $250 (depending onwhere you live) do they expect a tip too? I actually had an escort ask me after our session how much his tip was going to be, and I (for once in my life) was speechless. The fees for escorts are getting way out of hand to begin with, especially when some want add-on charges for certain activities as if they were an ala carte menu, that tipping seems totally preposterous!

you don't tip the propriotor or proprietess of a business. they set a fair price to cover their

cost and make a fair profit. you purchase their

services if you consider it a fair price. if you

and the escort, who is in business for himself agree to a fair price, the concept of tipping that escort is ludicrous. along the same line, i once had several

lapdances at remingtons, came to a total of $120,

i think. when i handed the dancer the money he

asked about a tip. i looked at him and said, "what do you think that is?"

Shy: After my recent trip to Montreal, I loved your reply to the boy who asked, "What, no tip?" I found the (so often heard that I think it's scripted for them) statement "A dance is $6 (or however much) a song, but you can give whatever you like if it's good" very disconcerting. And in some cases Amtrak gave better service. And that came with a guarantee! LOL, keep posting.

I can only speak for myself and a few escorts I know. A tip is not expected or required. Like all GIFTS, it is nice and appreciated when it happens, but I will not refuse to see a client because he does not tip!

Having said that, I will also be honest in saying, some top/busy escorts when faced with an option of two repeat/regular clients, will often schedule in the bigger "tip" or the one who books a longer length of time.

I couldn't agree more with the sensible advice given above. I don't think that most escorts belong in the same league as waiters and cab drivers. Indeed, I suspect that many of them make more money than most of their clients! But the deeper issue is one of expectations. I fear that giving tips encourages an attitude (now common, but not yet all-pervasive) that the escort is doing the client a favour. I never cease to be amazed by this. Part of the problem, I suspect, is that many insecure clients give tips in order to endear themselves to attractive escorts, who then (understandably) come to acquire a certain "attitude". Tips are not only unnecessary, they are harmful. Don't tip unless you want higher fees and more attitude. Appeal to vanity, not the pocketbook; it's cheaper.

I am glad you agreed with most of the advice given. I would like to comment on one thing you said, mainly because I have never heard of it before (this is not to say the practice does not exist).

"...I fear that giving tips encourages an attitude (now common, but not yet all-pervasive) that the escort is doing the client a favour. I never cease to be amazed by this".

Well, this amazes me too, (I speak for myself here). My feelings and I am sure some escorts may share this view is that the client IS the one doing the favour! Think about it, they could have chosen any other escort, and in my case or opinion, they can easily go to a bar and pick up a guy. Yet they choose to be with me. When they choose to do so repeatedly or maore than once, that to me is compliment and tip enough. So, not to take anything away from you Sir, but there exists another school of thought.

Ok, my two cents, did not mean to bore you. Thanks for the comments though. Interesting.

It seems to me that we agree. What amazes me is how many escorts don't, in my experience. I wish more had your attitude.

SO Quinte Im curious-- do you figure up the bill after the session or do you agree ahead of time what the price/number of hours will be?

I have had clients book a certain time with me and end up staying way longer- In which case I like to be tipped-- it saves me from having to charge - and most guys are cool enough to do this- a gratutity is usually cheaper than what they would pay if I was strictly by " by the clock" and more than I was expecting otherwise...

Again should I just wait until they are ready to go then figure it out?? seems tacky.....

Escort Tips - Independent vs. Agency

A lot of valid opinions on tipping.

One thing not brought up though is independent escorts vs. "agency" escorts. I have hired many escorts during business travels nationwide over the last year. In my experience, agency escorts typically do not make nearly as much as independent escorts.

An escort I have seen monthly for the last year

is with an agency and I know that what he makes is just over half of what independents in his area make. To compensate for this - partially for the discrepancy, and even more so for his outstanding services, personality, companionship, etc. - I do tip him. I don't feel he expects it or wouldn't see me if I didn't. I also tend to book appts. that are 3 hrs or more with any escort I meet.

I have also on occasion provided tips to independent escorts I feel have gone "above and beyond" what I have expected. That's just my opinion/practice.

PS: Quinte seems to be a real class act that I would love to meet when my travels permit.

(Matt in Vancouver too :)

RE: Escort Tips - Independent vs. Agency

LAST EDITED ON Aug-16-00 AT 09:00AM (EST)[p]You're right about escorts from an agency generally making less than independents. However, if I ask, nearly all of the time, an escort from an agency will give me his home or cell number so that I can call him directly. This solves that problem. Gettin back to original issue, I charge $350 an hour and my clients don't tip me. I don't tip escorts.

Later.

RE: Escort Tips - Independent vs. Agency

I use the same rule for escorts that I use for hairdresser: independent escorts get no tip, escorts that work for agencies get a tip.

Exceptions: independent escorts that are popular and I would like to see again get a little extra. Agency escorts that I don't ever want to see again get no tip.

RE: Quinte

I ensure we are both clear on what my hourly rates are. I more than often exceed the one hour thing, say by 15 -20 mins. I think it makes for good business.

However, I find most clients who choose to stay for longer periods, let me know before hand, and even when they do not, they add on a little "something". In the RARE event that my generousity with time will be taken advantage of, (ie, wanting to stay for 2 or more hours and not be compensated for it). I just make a mental note not to see that client again.

I have also without prompting, and if I have a light schedule, offered an extra hour at no expense. A bonus, to only my absolute regulars.

:-) Gee, what can I say some of these guys could be great company!

Yes, it IS tacky. :-) which is why I do not do that. Infact, I hate discussing money especially in person. I often will encourage them or allow them set the "gift" down on a night stand or table. I find with that out of the way, it tends to seem more like a steamy date!

Unless of course its a new client, then I check its all there! Heehe

Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate them, Class Act yes, but I am 0% Angel. Heehe. }>

I am glad you brought this up. It will be wise to tip the guys from an agency, as in my opinion they are often underpaid. Now there are different reasons to want to be an independent Vs work from an agency; but that is another debate.

As to your travel plans... hmm. You may not have to wait too long, as I have been toying with the idea of visiting/moving to DC. What do you think?

Some good advice above! I basically don't tip unless a) the man was good and came out very late for me or in horrible weather or b) the service was truly extraordinary (indulged happily in unusual sexual practices). OK, and once an extra 100 once for a PRican college kid who was buying his textbooks the next day. Sooooooo cute.

RE: Escort Tips - Independent vs. Agency

The escort who works for an agency has made that choice. Accept lower wages in exchange for the conveniences of having an agency set everything up for them. This warrants a tip????? I think tips for all should be based on extra time, extra "services", or you just being a generous person.

Very good point Travis. From now on, I will only tip for going above and beyond the call of duty...

RE: Escort Tips - Independent vs. Agency

A lot of people in the corporate world do receive "tips". They are called a "year end bonus". Even if the escort is charging $300.00 an hour, if they do an outstanding job they deserve a tip. I enjoy receiving my bonus for my outstanding work and enjoy rewarding others for their outstanding work.

RE: Escort Tips - Independent vs. Agency

Not only can tips be fun to give (and receive) but there are many of us (usually actors, other superiorstitious people and other people who may be in a position to get tipped themselves) who give tips as a way to keep the good karma going long enough to come back to us. What goes around comes around.
