Amazing video listing about 100 dead gay porn stars, a picture, and cause of death with dates. Brought back many memories.

Wow, while that didn't exactly fill me with Christmas cheer, thanks for posting the video. So sad ... at least I got an answer to so many cases of "whatever happened to ________?"

This is a lovely Christmas thread.

How about a conversation into why a lot of them died... And how that industry continues to ignore it.

Amazes me that porn blogs like to gossip about porn actors’ shortcomings, stints with the law and untimely deaths yet there’s still no dialogue happening about gay men’s mental health.

Considering the lack of mental health discussion in the general population itself, it's not surprising. Too many people, especially men, think talking about feelings, stressors, problems, etc. is taboo. Society needs to change to make it acceptable for everyone to discuss these things openly and not shame people for it.

“Dead Gay Porn Stars Memorial,” sounds so, idk...awful. The creator couldn’t soften that title a bit, geez.

My understanding, he is an ex-gay, ex-porn performer, heavy duty Catholic. So creepy .

On a more cheerful note, perhaps the ex gay dude could learn his own

Strange to see Tom Katt included (12:27), unless there's a less-famous one that I can't find by googling or going to adult video sites like iafd and aebn. I only find one (the bodybuilder--I was a big fan of his), and he's gone str8, and is alive. (And born in 1970, not 1964. So, maybe there were 2 with that name.)

Thanks you so much, @Karl-G , for posting this. As i watched I found myself doing the math. So many in their twenties and thirties, some in their forties, just a few in their fifties. A couple who didn't even reach 20. So young. As the tears started to flow, I found myself feeling the inner father/grandfather I never got to be, wanting to reach out to them, to share something good with them, to thank them for the joy they brought me and so many others, to pray for them.

I watch this every couple of years and I always find myself in tears by the end. What disturbs me the most is how the porn industry consumes its own. What it invariably does is take a group of very good looking immature, young me and introduces them to a world of quick easy money and easy drugs. The vast majority of these guys simply are not old enough and mature enough to handle the situations that arise in porn.

I have always felt, and still do, that the world of escorting tends to attract a far more stable, far more mature, and generally older group of guys. Although there is some cross over between the world of porn and escorting they are basically very different. The survival rate amongst escorts is far higher than that amongst porn participants.

Very sad!!!!!

Was sad to watch-but also made me wonder-is there anywhere (apart from simple googling) to discover what became of former gay porn stars? I have read a couple of bios, but wondered if anyone knows of any specific websites that might have info on what became of some of them ones who are still with us?

Tony Bravo was one of my favs of the 80s as were many on that list.....

I also found The Deuce on HBO (after a slow stat in season 1) to be a great series about the porn industry, albeit mostly straight, but well written and directed

Agreed. Another question is - are we, the clients, accomplices? We purchase the porn and sometimes hire the actors. The popularity of bareback porn is worrisome. We are what keeps the industry alive. I am not pointing fingers, I do enjoy porn ... but it makes me think.

'deceased gay porn stars' or 'porn stars who left us' would have been a bit more tactful than 'dead porn stars' … but that's just me.

Agreed, or "In Memoriam' -the other title is a bit brusque and insensitive to say the least

Post #10 explains a little bit. I'm sure the creator has an 'agenda'.

As insensitive as it may sound, we do have to take responsibility for our own actions. Support "systems" and rehab only go so far. It's all very sad, of course.

Yes. If you buy into the industry, you're supporting the cycle. I don't say this with jugement, just as matter of fact.

On a basic level, porn is great: It's healthy. It's enjoyable. In moderation, it's perfectly fine.

The big problem with the industry is that it's still got the stigma of 'star' attached to it... Ego is a double-edged sword. The money really isn't the issue, but more troublesome are the strings of social media, industry politics that frequently leak out, the guys who self-medicate in a wide variety of destructive ways (drugs, steroids) and a hierarchy of studio owners/producers that don't give a shit about their talent pool.

Even with the growth of performers creating their own content, it's a fickle audience and an ever-increasingly competitive market for their money. The truly smart guys are thinking ahead of the curve and can forecast trends in the industry. Eventually the OnlyFans bubble will burst, as even though there might be some great looking guys doing it, the content is unimaginative, repetitive and people tend to have very short porn attention spans.

It was interesting to see the large number of heart failure deaths. In my experience, most cases of heart failure under the age of 50 are due to amphetamine or stimulant use, especially when coupled with alcohol. The saddest part about the deaths is that even when the heart is in very bad shape, it can go completely back to normal if the drugs stop. I'd be happy to take care of a porn star, although I must say I don't have any patience with drug use. Sad to see the number of suicides. If only we could talk to them before. I wonder what leads so many to suicide.
