Mainstream Actors Escorting

This is an exercise in wishful thinking. Does anyone know of any "mainstream" actors who escort? By that I mean legitimate as opposed to porn actors who escort on the side. I would think that many have done so, especially early in their careers or if their careers take a downhill turn. Any thoughts?

OK, so far my post has not been taken seriously and I can certainly understand why. But, if anyone can offer any thoughts, let me know.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-16-00 AT 05:26PM (EST)[p]Bollo, here's a thought. Why would a "mainstream" actor Escort when he make 20 times the amount of money and why would he do so at the risk of losing his career as a result of lets say the National Inquirer finding out about it? Of course there have been actors that have done it before they became famous to help pay the bills. But I don't think they would be stupid enough to do so now that they are "mainstream" And why would they want to? Sybil you have the floor!

You're right. Why would a mainstream actor escort unless he had some sexual fantasy to act out. I guess when I use the term mainstream, I was thinking more of a mainstream actor whose career has gone down hill, which means they are more properly termed "former mainstream." Also, if a mainstream actor had to escort in his early years to pay bills, I doubt he'd keep it up, so to speak. Oh, well. It was wishful thinking. Yet, if Matt LeBlanc, for example, is acting out some weird fantasy by escorting, let me know!

I'm just confused by the question. "Mainstream" just means "not porn," right? So, yes OF COURSE there are actors who are escorts. Not necessarily FAMOUS ones, but there's a difference between famous and mainstream. Hunee, we live in New York City - there are LOTS of mainstream actors around who are not famous. I had a threeway with one who has since moved to LA. This guy is way HOT. I don't know how his acting career is going, but he so needs to be in porn......

Anyway, of course they're out there, and of course a famous one would not be an escort for all the reasons stated.

Just wanted to make a distinction......

Of course there was that famous Urban Myth (New York variety) that had Tom Cruise at Rounds when he was still trying to get his first break...

That WAS a myth, wasn't it?

There are no known actors escorting and certainly not known to the general public. Maybe an alcoholic has been, a Troy Donohue or Jon Vincent in one of their drunken stupors stumbling around skid row. It used to be that producers and directors could get sex from anyone wanting a part in the movies. No more. TV and movies are big business with millions of dollars at stake. I don't believe any of the sex rumours about Tom Cruise. His stage mother was always around supervising. Tom got there on his looks and acting ability, did I also say lots of hard work? A highly professional businessman.

Since I was directly addressed, I must apologize for taking so long to get back to y'all. Somebody else said it very well when he pointed out the large gap between a mainstream (what me might call legit) actor and a successful mainstream actor. Acting unions probably have the highest percentage of out of work members at any one time. Must be somewhere North of 70%, to be conservative.

Of course no actor whose name you recognize will be escorting. He will be among the lucky few making his living acting. And there is such a gap between the haves and havenots that anyone making their living solely by acting is very likely well off enough that escorting would not appeal to them - minimal (comparatively) returns for maximum danger to his other income.

When you add in the fact that the Majority of actors have to be only slightly more real or less attractive than models to make it in movies and have to be fairly young and agile to make it on Broadway (mostly musical gypsies), you come up with a lot of young hunksters without much income trying to make their big break with casting directors who don't care when you're supposed to be at work. When and where they want to interview you, they do. So it helps to be self employed so you can (basically) set your own hours and walk away to those rehearsals whenever you need to.

So of course many new up and coming actors escort!

And also of course any mainstream actor whose name or face you already recognize doesn't.

Which leaves us the young whelps or the dreaming of times gone by when we could have hired today's well known. And, believe me, if I lived in NYC or LA, those young puppies could grace my dungeon just as often as I could afford them!

I've heard this rumor from people there. I think

it hard to tie someone in a dark bar to someone

who later became famous. Memory and lighting

can be decieving.

When I was younger and wore suit much more than

I did now. I was often mistaken more a sitcom

actor in a very popular show. I would walk around

NYC and every once in a while a sighting in a

gossip column would pop up of this actor where I

was. People often see what they want to see.

Dear D,

I think you could have said, "People always see what they want to see." It's the basis of theater - willing suspension of disbelief = people seeing what you tell them they want to see. Also of much of the romance of anything - including escorting.

Kisses.

As someone who lives in New York City, and who frequently hires young men to enjoy an evening with, I can answer in the affirmative that there are "mainstream" (meaning non-porn) actors who make extra money. I offer two first-hand experiences:

1. I hired a young man over and over for about four months while he was in a big name acting school here in the city and, for about the last month of our relationship, he was acting in an off-Broadway show (a small part).

2. When I started using a service at one point, the agent asked me whether I was in the entertainment business, because two of his young men were actor/model professionals who could not risk bumping into a past or future colleague.

I have also "dated" dancers, musicians, cover models, and even a film director. To me, that's one of the thrills of buying time in the Big Apple. I love seducing a man in the arts, at least partly because there's the fantasy that someday he may get more than 15 minutes of fame.

Several years ago, I read an article in a magazine that alleged that James Dean and Nick Adams worked as escorts during their first lean years in Hollywood. I do not attest to the accuracy of that speculation, but it is interesting nonetheless that such an actor as James Dean might have performed for private audiences with his privates.

Now if Russell Crowe had only been in California while I was doing my fellowship there...BABY...I might have moved to New Zealand with him!

I am guessing these are still myths?

I also wonder with how entertainment media has shifted over the years, if there would be 'mainstream' actors that would not mind the occasional paid transaction here and there.

I do think this might be a record for oldest revived thread!!

In 2000 instagram, youtube, twitter, etc. so many things didn't exist! No iPhones either and how many folks would do online anything other than checking their emails...

No doubt but we can always fantasize!

I'm sure while auditioning and trying to be discovered some might consider cash income. Obviously discretion matters a lot just like it did in 2000

Well we know Channing Tatum danced in Florida before he made it big. Are there that many guys there who JUST dance?

was he already acting though when he did the magic-mike inspired gig in FL? it is probably rarer for someone who's got a TV show or movie part here or there then do escorting on the side than what Simon Rex did.

Of course nobody who already "made it" is escorting unless they've washed out and need the money. But I'm sure plenty did on their way up.

We know for sure Channing was a stripper in real life for women but as we all know the business is somewhere else.

Lap dance?

They might have also accept proposals by directors, etc. in order to get promoted.
