LAST EDITED ON Jun-06-00 AT 00:40AM (EST)[p]There are lots of stories here about escorts who rip off clients -- but very little about the reverse situation. This hardly seems fair. Escorts deserve as much protection from the flakes among us as clients do.

I started thinking about this while listening to Adam of San Francisco tell me how he had recently lost $2000 during a travel booking to Las Vegas. Adam was in the company of a client he knew quite well and agreed to take a personal check for payment.

As the client watched, Adam carefully stowed the check in the carrying case for his laptop. Later, on the plane home, Adam discovered the check was missing.

Adam immediately tried to contact the client so that he could ask him to stop payment on the missing check and to mail a replacement. All attempts to communicate were ignored and Adam ultimately was forced to conclude that the client himself had stolen the check.

I recount this tale with Adam's permission and with the hope that it will lead to a more balanced discussion of the hazards that are part of the escort/client scene.

I totally agree with that.

But I guess we ( us escort ) should be more open and share more our bad experiences. This is why matt adams, just made a special room for it to warm all escorts about the bad clients.

More info ? just email him at :matadams4u@aol.com

But i don't think that talking about that on the message center is a good thing. it will just make it harder.

Disons plutot que tu utilises un programme :)))

Dis moi la vérité car dans la première sitation, ton français n'était pas du tout très bon et c'est pour cela que je te posais la question.

Mais je suis sur que tu parles le français mieux que ces programes:))))

How did this thread go from being about clients ripping off escorts to a French lesson? (Je peux parler francais aussi, Stefan.) Shouldn't this get back to the original topic? Or as the French say,"revenons aux nos moutons." (Translated: Get back to our sheep.) Which, actually, sounds more like something a Greek shepherd might say.

Well, as a client who perfers to pay by check, you know, business expenses and all. My question is>? if this was a good client why would he rip you off. Something is wrong here. Adam must not have "known" his client very well. As a man of integrity, I would never steal a check back, i would stop payment LOL, and even though i have wanted to on occasion, I never have. Thats just fucking bad business (excuse my french, had to get something in there about french:) So is there more to the story then we are hearing?? just asking...

Sounds like Stuart K. to me. If you get a call from a client with a thick english accent and says he has a suite at Mandalay Bay be sure to quote him your highest rate and tell him Matt Adams told you about him.

He got named worst client in my second edition, and seems to revel in the notoriety since he hasnt sued me. Quite frankly for a client to lose their confidentiality with me takes some doing...and he is the only client who has lost their confidentiality with me outside of the escort community.

And he does have a habit of writing bad checks...you would think after five years that escorts would have caught on by now.

After having had several checks bounce on me and/or having to wait til the client got enough money in his account to cover same, I will never take checks again. One thing that seemed to help was to make sure that the client wrote on the memo part of the check what the check was for and make sure that he got that, whatever it was. That way, if you need to, you can take them to small claims court safely. However, once you set up shop selling whatever is in that memo space, there is no reason why you can't arrange to take credit cards. They also can stop payment on those, but it is much more difficult, and the receipts also work nicely in whatever paperwork you might want the check for.

RE: Bad Checks

Bilbo,

I can't blame anyone for not accepting checks. Most of us are like Nice Guy -- honorable men, but there is a (hopefully) small number of disreputable unscrupulous individuals that lower the common demoninator. (I haven't quite figured out how human character can be cut from such different cloth.)

I personally would never ask an escort to take a check, it breaks the terms of the implied contract in my view -- immediate payment for immediate service. This isn't exactly the kind of business that lends itself to the ususal remedies for collection of nonpayment. Now, I have considered payment in precious metals and possibly even livestock but would do so only on prior agreement, never after the (f)act.

As for Nice Guy needing a business record, why not a receipt for cash payment, it seems to me no bigger obsticle than filling in the Pay To The Order line on a check.

RE: Bad Checks

Well, Bilbo since you asked so politely --

I come from a old line of horse traders -- well if the truth be known he was a horse thief, according to court records ca 1836. Tried, sentenced to be hanged, and escaped jail settling several counties to the west -- lived to a ripe old age and had many children.

Of course my grandmother swore up and down that he was no relation, but then considering the location, the era, and the same name, she didn't convince me. I believe he was a brother to one of my direct ancestors but haven't confirmed yet.

There, that's one story -- you only get one per request.

RE: Bad Checks

Tampa - Neat story!

There is an old family legend that two of my ancestors, male cousins, were so handsome that they were able to seduce a serving maid, or someone like that, and become the only people ever to escape the Tower of London.

Not to say that all of those good looks made it down through the generations to land on me, but....

There, is a trade as good as a request? Do we get more now?

- Bilbo
