NYC: The Web and 550-1000

Is The Web, home of young asians (my favorite breed) still open? Any comments on excorts from there? Has anybody called 550-1000 with any results. This company has telephone #'s for several cities domestically and internationally -- advertises as "the only number you'll need".

While 550-1000 is hardly the ONLY number you'll ever need, it has certainly proved useful to me from time to time over the past year. (At least the NYC one has; the Chicago version was a bust, for reasons explained below.)

 

Its great virtue in shopping for a hustler is the combination of immediacy & rapid turn-over. All the 'ads' are truly current (recorded anywhere from a moment before you hear them up to no more than 12 hours or so earlier). While I'm not 100% certain about the maximum shelf-life of any given ad, I think it's as short as I've just described, and the newer ones eventually 'bump' the older ones in any case. To be sure, escorts who use it regularly tend to stick to the same ad copy day after day, but they've still got to record it afresh each time.

 

This ongoing 'currency' means that the escort is not only ready to go, but quite possible SO ready to go that he'll be much more flexible in negotiating a fee (if you're the negotiating type) than someone who's advertising only via a print or website ad. And you'll probably get a call-back to your page within minutes.

 

As you can imagine, the NYC turnover is sometimes amazingly swift. Not so Chicago, simply because there are fewer escorts there overall, and (as of last November) fewer still who knew about the service in the first place. Happily, though, when I pointed this out to the guys who run the whole Number network (out of Florida, I think), explaining that I was interested ONLY in the escorts, they cheerfully transferred the entire credit for later use in NYC, where I was due to return later in the month!

 

(BTW, in Chicago, I had charged $30 worth of use to a credit card rather than have each call billed individually to the phone--which would obviously have been awkward, if not impossible, in short-term rental lodgings or a hotel.)

 

The second great virtue is that you get to hear the escort's voice (& vocal 'demeanor') even BEFORE initiating contact. This alone makes it far, far more efficient as means of shopping than in an online chatroom. Since I have no problem telling the men from the boys (not to mention the girls) by the time they've delivered the first four words of their spiel, keeping my finger on the 'Next' button (the pound sign)lets me whiz through the whole array in nothing flat. Sometimes I record the whole thing as I go, for later, closer analysis of the ones--too few, alas!--who pass the preliminary voice test, and to save myself the trouble of jotting down facts, figures & phone numbers. (Yes, Linda, in NY State it's legal to make a recording of a phone recording without the consent of the automated tape player!)

 

From my point of view, there are additional advantages. Since I really like trade, I'm MUCH more likely to find it (or its close equivalent) THIS way than in Unzipped, HX or Next. The kind of stud I'm seeking just doesn't take out print ads in gay magazines a month (or even a week) in advance. But with a little egging on from peers who have already discovered this easy route to instant pocket money, he might well give it a one-time try on an impulse. This is especially true of street-wise & sexually uninhibited Latino & Blatino studs who are already part of the pager/beeper generation. And it's among this cohort that I've made some really terrific 'finds,' three of which I've been seeing pretty regularly for months.

 

It goes without saying, however, that the usual standards of caution and common sense must be applied here no less than in any free-enterprise meat market.

 

Bottom line: yes, sometimes it's great to let your fingers do the walking.
