Florida man worried his meth was bad, asked sheriff's office to test it for him — and they did

A Florida man, worried he may have received “bad” meth from a drug dealer, asked the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office if they would check the quality of his illegal narcotic. They did — and promptly arrested him.

The story started as Douglas Peter Kelly, 49, of Hawthorne, reportedly thought someone sold him the wrong illegal drug.

“On Tuesday, Kelly contacted the sheriff’s office and said he purchased methamphetamine about a week earlier and had a ‘bad reaction’ after smoking the narcotic,” the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page. “The suspect said he believed because of the ‘violent reaction’ he had after smoking the drug, he was sold the wrong narcotic.”

According to the sheriff’s office, Kelly told detectives he wanted to get the substance he purchased tested “because he wanted to ‘press charges’ on the person who sold him the wrong narcotic.”

Detectives told Kelly to come to the sheriff’s office so they could test the drug he bought. Sure enough, Kelly reportedly drove to the office and “handed detectives a clear, crystal-like substance wrapped in aluminum foil.”

The good news for Kelly: The sheriff’s office said substance he brought did test positive for methamphetamine, which is what he said he was trying to purchase.

The bad news for Kelly: He was immediately arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

The sheriff’s office said Kelly was walked from the office to the Putnam County Jail and was held on $5,000 bond.

“Remember, our detectives are always ready to assist anyone who believes they were misled in their illegal drug purchase,” the agency said in its Facebook post.

'5 likes and I'll go shoot up Disney': Florida man arrested in Facebook threat

A Florida man was arrested Tuesday after he reportedly threatened to commit a mass shooting at Walt Disney World in a Facebook group chat, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Derek Eitel, 23, of Cocoa, posted in the group saying "5 likes and I'll go shoot up Disney and hang myself," ABC Action News reported.

Detectives with the sheriff's office say that the Facebook group has more than 800 members, who were all able to view Eitel's post.

Two of the members reported the statement to authorities, according to News 6 in Orlando.

Detectives didn't release the name of the Facebook group.

In an interview with investigators, Eitel later confessed to typing the threat on his phone while he was at work, the outlet reported.

He was arrested on a charge of making written threats to kill or do bodily harm and is being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to jail records.

Man killed pregnant wife and kept body in his apartment for 8 days, detectives believe

A man accused of killing his pregnant wife for disrespecting him kept her body in his apartment for a week, detectives suspect.

Eight days after the death of Martine Bernard, 20, her desecrated body was moved into a garbage bin in an alley, which detectives found before sunrise on Tuesday.

From his second floor apartment at 522 N.E. First Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Cassandritz Blanc could look over that alley.

The 22-year-old — who does not have a criminal record in Florida — is facing charges of premeditated murder and abusing a corpse in the June 4 killing. Blanc had shot Bernard in the head and tried to dismember her body to make it easier to dispose of, but he failed, a police report said.

He is also the prime suspect in the killing of Bernard’s father, Roosevelt Bernard, 68, of Hollywood, police say. As of Wednesday, Blanc had not been arrested in that case.

A mother determined to get her cellphone back from her 46-year-old son shot at him as he rode on a bicycle in Florida, police said.

Priscilla Ann Ethridge, 66 – who was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm – allegedly fired a shot at her son after an argument caused him to storm out of the Panama City Beach home they share, The Gainesville Sun reports.

Ethridge then grabbed a .22 revolver and left the residence, saying “I’ll be damned if I let him have the last word” on her way out of the door, her nephew told deputies with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

She soon caught up with her adult son on Front Beach Road, where Ethridge’s son, pedaling on his bike, grabbed her car door before she squeezed off a shot to “scare” him into letting go. She later told deputies she thought her son left with her cellphone and she followed after him to get it back, according to a police report.

Ethridge’s son said he took off on his bike to get away from his mother, adding that she yelled she was going to shoot him before pulling the trigger. He wasn’t shot, but the bullet came “very close” to striking him, according to the report.

Investigators later seized Ethridge’s gun, which was found with one spent shell casing in its chamber. Her cellphone, meanwhile, was later found at her home.

Kimberly Dunn, 35, from Lake City, Fla., is accused of shooting her estranged husband in the testicles last October after he attempted to take away an air conditioner she was trying to sell on Facebook,WKBN reported.

Dunn — who was charged with aggravated battery for the alleged attack — is back in jail for failing to show up in court last Thursday. She now faces a contempt of court charge as well as a felony larceny charge and is being held without bond, ABC reported.

At the time of her arrest last year, Dunn told police she shot her husband by accident and only meant to scare him after he barged into her home.

Her husband, whose name was withheld by police, told officials he showed up at Dunn’s residence with his brother to collect the AC unit after learning she was trying to sell it online, according to an arrest report obtained by WJAX-TV.

Dunn reportedly sat on the air conditioner to prevent her husband and his brother from unlatching it. She then tried to zap her husband with a pink stun gun as he tried to remove her from the AC, the report said.

Dunn dropped the pink stun gun and a handgun after being struck in the head during a struggle. But then she reportedly grabbed the handgun, got off the ground, and fired at her husband’s groin.

“You shot my brother,” Dunn’s husband’s brother screamed before choking Dunn until she blacked out, the report said. The brother drove Dunn’s injured husband to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

A now-former pastor at a Deltona church faces a voyeurism charge, accused of taking an upskirt photo of a woman in his office after a Sunday service, authorities said.

Brian (Rick) Kenyon Jr., 31, faces a felony charge of video voyeurism. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Thursday, but was released that afternoon on $2,500 bail, officials said.

According to an arrest affidavit, the 41-year-old victim told Volusia County sheriff’s deputies the incident happened April 8 at the Deltona Church of Christ on Providence Boulevard.

The woman had watched Kenyon’s children for him during the service. Afterward, she went to his office to turn the kids over to him, but soon realized something was wrong, the affidavit said.

Kenyon seemed nervous and was avoiding eye contact, she said. Then, he asked her to put his youngest child in a car seat.

The woman, who was wearing a sundress, said she bent forward and knelt to secure the child in the seat, but then felt skin brush against her leg, causing her to turn around and yell.

According to the affidavit, she saw Kenyon kneeling behind her, bent at the waist, with his hand near the bottom of her dress.

When he stood, she said she noticed he was holding his cell phone.

The woman told her husband what had happened, and later enlisted several members of the congregation to help confront Kenyon.

At a meeting, Kenyon denied taking a picture up the woman’s dress, the affidavit said, claiming he was trying to take a picture of his child but dropped the phone between the woman’s legs.

A Florida woman landed in jail after she allegedly streaked around a park in broad daylight to escape a “giant spider,” according to officials.

Police arrested Danielle Teeples, 40, after they discovered her stark naked Sunday afternoon at a public park in St. Petersburg, news station WTFS reported.

Officers arrived to find Teeples “acting erratically and rubbing her hair and breasts” as she screamed and ran between two trees, according to a police report.

Teeples reportedly refused to get dressed and told officers that she disrobed because there was a “giant spider” on her.

She then admitted to recently using drugs, including meth and crack cocaine, police said.

Teeples was arrested and booked on charges for exposure of sexual organs.

The Kobe Japanese Steakhouse in Clearwater, Fla., offers a variety of choice meats, sushi specialties and a pretty generous happy hour deal. The one thing they don’t offer, however, are live nude shows.

Not always, anyway.

James Dylan Jordan, a 24-year-old restaurant patron from nearby Dunedin, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after he drunkenly approached a couple of Kobe diners last Sunday night and offered them an impromptu striptease,The Tampa Bay Times reported.

“While intoxicated inside the Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, James Jordan approached [a female diner] and her husband … [Jordan] began to undress and dance erotically in front of [her],” according to the official complaint.

When the woman asked him to stop, Jordan became “belligerent” and called the woman fat, and then threatened to fight her husband, the complaint said.

Police added that “James was not cooperative.” He was taken to Pinellas County Jail and released last Monday on a $150 bond.

A woman in Florida allegedly raped a 14-year-old boy while her husband and children were in the same room, police said.

Justice Maryie McKay, of Lake Butler, was arrested Wednesday on sexual battery charges after the boy’s mother noticed marks on his body left by McKay and confronted her, showing her photographs of his body, the Gainesville Sun reports.

McKay, 22, and her family were at the boy’s home on July 22 celebrating her birthday when she used WhatsApp messenger to summon the boy into a room where she was staying – and where her husband and children were sleeping, according to a police report.

The boy initially refused McKay’s offer and said no at least once before going to the room, where he told McKay he had no intention of getting physical with her, the boy told police.

But once there, McKay kissed him, removed his clothes and had sex with the teen, police said. The following day, McKay told the boy she “wanted to be with him” and couldn’t forget what they had done.

About a month later, McKay picked up the boy from a bus stop in Gainesville and told him she’d give him a ride to school. But instead of taking him to class, McKay took the teen to her home in Lake Butler, where they had sex again on Aug. 13, police said.

McKay left scratch marks and “hickies” on the boy’s body during the sexual battery, according to investigators.

Days later, McKay picked the boy up from a gas station in Gainesville before they had sex again. During those incidents in August, police said McKay’s five children and teen cousin were also in the home during the alleged attacks.

McKay, who has filed a written plea of not guilty, remained held at the Alachua County Jail on $75,000 bond as of Friday morning, online records show. Her attorney could not be reached for comment, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Some people will do anything for coconut shrimp.

On Wednesday evening, a Florida woman allegedly attacked her parents because they wouldn’t take her to dinner at Outback Steakhouse, a popular Australian-themed restaurant chain. Deanna Seltzer, 28, was charged with one count of simply battery domestic, one count of battery of a person 65 or older, and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police arrived at a Lake Worth home to find a glass dining room table flipper over, with shards of glass scattered through the area, according to WPBF. They also found a 12-inch decorative knife laying on the kitchen counter.

According to Seltzer’s mother, Deanna became enraged when she asked to go to dinner at Outback Steakhouse and was told no. She allegedly punched her mother with closed fists on her chest and arms, and when her father intervened, he reportedly received multiple scratches to his face and upper body. Seltzer also allegedly grabbed the knife and lunged at her father, yelling, “I’m going to kill you.”

Seltzer is out of jail on bond, local TV station CW34 reports. A judge ordered her to undergo a mental health evaluation, and was ordered to stay away from drugs, alcohol and weapons. According to the report, it is unknown whether mental health, drugs or alcohol played a part in the incident.

‘Trump will handle it.’ Florida man has warning after harassing Iraqi neighbors, cops say

Shortly after moving into a home in Holiday, Florida, David Allen Boileau started to harass some of his new neighbors, police say. The 58-year-old man complained one family — originally from Iraq — shouldn’t be living in the neighborhood because “the U.S. needs to rid the country of all of them,” police say, according to The Tampa Bay Times. The family has four children, the newspaper reported.

Boileau now faces a burglary charge and a possible hate crime after the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says he tried to intimidate the unsuspecting family because of their country of origin.

On Monday, police say Boileau “threw screws at the victim’s brother-in-law’s vehicle in hopes of damaging it or them running over the nails and flattening their tires,” according to the Tampa Bay Reporter.

The following day, Boileau — who allegedly remarked “we’ll get rid of them one way or another” — broke into the family’s home and went through their mail, police say, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter. Police say he got into the house, which had no people inside, through an unlocked back door. A neighbor then saw the 58-year-old going through the family’s mail and called law enforcement, police say.

When police arrived, they said they found Boileau walking down the street and he then admitted to breaking into the home. Police say he also stated that “if he doesn’t get rid of them, Trump will handle it,” when talking about the Iraqi family, according to the Tampa Bay Reporter.

For Nocco, it’s perplexing that a new neighbor tried to determine who could live in the neighborhood.

“He said he does not like them, he wished they weren’t in his community,” he told The Tampa Bay Times. “Which is ironic because he’s the one who moved into our community.”

He was arrested and charged for the burglary on Tuesday evening, when police say he “uttered several statements of his dislike for people of Middle Eastern descent,” as reported by The Tampa Bay Times.

The homeowner returned and said that multiple gift cards, credit cards and a debit card were missing, as well as an ID.

Bolieau denied stealing any of those items, which police did not locate.

Police say “the victim owns and has lived at her home for three years without any issues prior to the defendant moving into his residence,” as noted by the Tampa Bay Reporter.

In an interview with ABC Action News, the homeowner’s sister said the man targeted her family because “he thinks we’re bad people.”

“I know there’s some bad people from the Middle East,” the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told the TV station. “That’s why we’re here.”

Florida Secretary of State Mike Ertel resigns after photos of him in blackface emerge

TALLAHASSEE -- Newly appointed Florida Secretary of State Michael Ertel has resigned from office after photos of him posing as a female Hurricane Katrina victim in blackface were obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat, the paper reported online Thursday.

According to the Democrat, the photos were taken in 2005, shortly after Ertel had become supervisor of elections in Seminole County, and depict Ertel in blackface, wearing a New Orleans Saints bandanna around his head and a shirt with the words “Katrina Victim” written on it.

In an email to DeSantis just before 2 p.m. Thursday, Ertel submitted his resignation “effective immediately.” Ertel had been named Dec. 28 to replace Ken Detzner, who had been in the role since 2012 under former Gov. Rick Scott.

In a statement, the governor’s office said it had accepted Ertel’s resignation.

A shirtless alleged drunk was arrested outside a Naples, Fla., Olive Garden last week after customers complained he was sitting on a bench and shoving handfuls of pasta into his mouth.

Ben Padgett, 32, was charged last Sunday with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer.

His erratic behavior first reached the boiling point when he threatened to beat up an employee — who he’d bizarrely asked whether “he had male or female sex organs,” cops alleged.

Once outside, Padgett allegedly began “muttering obscenities” and begging for change — all in between handfuls of pasta.

Arriving cops gave the pasta-eating panhandler paper towels to clean his hands and face before cuffing him.

He allegedly had one last outburst in the back of the patrol car, when he injured himself by banging his head against the metal cage partition.

Padgett was treated for a bloody forehead at a nearby hospital, then released on $2,000 bond.

They do say “have it your way.”

A career criminal and her girlfriend allegedly attacked two Burger King employees in Miami for refusing to give them free french fries, according to the Miami Dade County Police Department.

Natasha Ethel Bagley, 42, was arrested Monday for the April 2 crime and charged with three counts of attempted robbery with a weapon, burglary and criminal mischief, court records and an arrest report show.

Her accomplice, 27-year-old Genesis Peguero, remains on the loose, police said.

The hangry duo allegedly came through the Palmetto Bay fast-food joint’s drive-thru and when an employee refused to cough up any free fries, they came inside the restaurant minutes later demanding to know who called them a “bitch,” the arrest report states.

Peguero then hopped over the counter and demanded the manager open the register and give her all the money while threatening to pistol whip the staff member, police said.

When the manager tried to call the cops, Peguero snatched the phone out of her hands and punched her while Bagley laboriously hoisted herself over the counter to help out, according to an arrest report and video obtained by the Miami Herald.

Both of the women then kicked and punched at least two Burger King employees, according to police and the video.

“Bitch call the cops but you a punk,” Bagley can be heard telling the employees during the altercation as she was leaving the restaurant.

Peguero hopped back over the counter to follow Bagley out but then decided to go back for more.

“You know what? You know what?” Peguero can be heard saying in the video before ripping the registers and monitors from the counters and hopping back over for a few more licks.

“Llama a la policia,” a woman can be heard in the background saying in Spanish, which means “call the police.”

After the second tussle, Peguero walked outside the Burger King where Bagley was waiting in a black SUV getaway car.

Bagley has an arrest history dating back to the mid-1990s for everything from prostitution, petit theft, arson and child neglect, court records show.

She’s being held in jail without bond, the Miami Herald reported.

A Florida woman was arrested for whipping her 26-year-old stepson with a belt on Monday, police said.

Valerie Branch-Galloway, 42, was charged with domestic battery for striking the man with a belt 30 times — 19 of which happened after he told her to stop.

The woman told police she “struck the victim 30 times with a leather belt” for missing his midnight curfew by 30 minutes, according to an arrest report.

She allegedly gave her stepson two choices: tell his father or take the “licks.”

After striking the man 11 times, he told her stop. She responded, “No, you have 19 more” and continued to hit him in the “buttock area.”

Branch-Galloway denied that her stepson, who has been living with her and his father for the past three months, ever asked her to stop.

Police saw bruising on the man’s “lower right back and hip area” when they arrested the woman.

Branch-Galloway made her first appearance in court on Tuesday.

Florida man calls 911 to brag after fleeing traffic stop: ‘Like what do we pay you guys for?’

A St. Johns County man has been arrested on multiple charges after deputies say he fled a traffic stop and then calling to brag about it.

Nicholas Jones, 19, was arrested on May 5 for reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, misusing 911 and violation of probation after doing a 'burnout' during a traffic stop and then calling to ask 911 why he had not yet been caught.

According to a St. John's County Sheriff's Office arrest report, a deputy was trying to pull over a white Hyundai for a traffic stop when the car took off, squealing its tires and speeding out of a parking lot on South Woodlawn Street.

Roughly an hour later, the report says that a subject called 911 and advised the following:t

Subject: "I want to know.... I like ran from a cop 30 minutes to an hour ago. I was the guy... that... over there off of Kings Estates. Like what do we pay you guys for... like I've driven past 4 cops.

SJSO Dispatcher: "What do you mean you ran from a cop?"

Subject: "I mean he turned his lights on me and got behind me and as he was walking up to my car I did a donut around him and left him."

SJSO Dispatcher: " OK, you want to now see the officer. Or... What's your question?"

Subject: "Like... My question is ... I'm assuming he put an APB out that has someone looking for my car... so like he definitely got the plate number but I've passed like 4 cops just driving around... Like what are you guys doing?"

SJSO Dispatcher: "Well we're working on many calls sir"

Using investigative techniques, St. Johns County deputies were able to track the phone to a person named Nicholas Jones who was wanted for a warrant for a separate incident.

A day later, deputies were made aware of a car with the same tag number traveling in the area of Old Moultrie Road.

The vehicle was found in front of a clothing store and Jones was taken into custody.

When asked why he ran from the traffic stop, deputies said that Jones smiled but said nothing. When asked why he would call 911 to gloat about it, Jones said "That cop had no right to stop me. I saw him turn his lights and sirens on and was going to stop but I didn't want to."

Deputies also advised that Jones later stated that he ran because he thought it would be "fun".

Deputies told Jones that the cop who attempted a traffic stop did not have his tag number and that they were only able to arrest him because he called into 911.

"That's funny. So I told on myself?" Jones asked, according to the arrest report. "No cop can catch me in my Hyundai Elantra, that thing is fast."

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Authorities say a ball python slithered out of a toilet and bit a South Florida man on the arm.

Coral Springs police spokesman Chris Swinson said the man was treated at the scene after the 4-foot snake bit him when he lifted the toilet seat on Sunday morning. The snake is nonvenomous.

Swinson told news outlets the snake didn't belong to the man and it was unclear how it got into the apartment.

The South Florida SunSentinel reports the Coral Springs Humane Society took the snake to a veterinarian's office. It was being treated for a scale infection.

Over the years other creatures have found their way into toilets in South Florida, including an iguana freed by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue in March.

Woman accused of stabbing hubby to death used to be his stepdaughter

WINTER PARK, Fla. - After the State Attorney's Office released hours of documents and scene evidence Wednesday, Channel 9 learned that a University of Central Florida executive who was allegedly killed by his wife was formerly married to her mother.

Family and friends said Michael Redlick fell in love with Daneille Redlick after her mother, Michael's second wife, died of cancer.

"In fairness to Mike, Danielle's mother was dying of cancer when they were dating," said a family friend. "She had terrible insurance."

Investigators believe Michael married Danielle's mom to help her get better health coverage.

After being widowed, Michael fell in love with Danielle, who was 20 years his junior.

Family friends soon called investigators to provide them with an outside look at the couple's relationship when they learned the 65-year-old died after being stabbed in the shoulder.

"I'd say to him on numerous occasions, 'Mike the consequences are going to get worse here,'" said Jerry Rubacky.

"They're going to get more dramatic."

Neighbors said Michael would at times move out of the family home so the children wouldn't see them fighting.

The two children are expected to testify against their mother during the trial and told investigators they usually witnessed tension between their parents.

The 15-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy told officials during an interview that Danielle was usually the aggressor during the fighting. Both children felt the relationship between their parents was improving in recent months up until the last several days before Michael was killed.

The boy told officials he knew something was wrong when his parents didn't show up for his baseball game the morning Michael was found dead.

My question: is she still covered under his health plan?

Florida man thought he bought a villa, actually paid thousands for tiny 100-by-1 foot strip of land

This Florida man thought he bought a villa for $9,100 in an online auction, but in reality he just won the patch of grass between two of them.

And it turns out the 100-foot-by-1-foot strip of land Kerville Holness purchased is valued at only $50.

His new property starts at the curb where two mailboxes sit, goes under a wall separating the garages of two adjoining villas and goes through the back lot — and officials said there’s no way he’s getting a refund.

Holness claims photos linked to the auction site showed the villa as being what he was bidding on, but the appraiser’s site and county’s tax site shows the negligible value of the property, no building value and that the land is only 100 square feet, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Looks like there’s room for a lawn chair and portable grill though, so maybe Holness will make the most of his new property.

Here's what Kerville Holness actually bought at an auction: a 100-foot-by-1-foot strip of land. From the front of the house, the strip goes right down the middle of a garage, and through the backyard.

After transporting a Florida Woman to jail following her arrest on DUI charges at a McDonald’s drive-thru, cops discovered that she had an eight-pack of vodka stuffed in her bra, according to an arrest report.

Responding to a 911 call about a “drunk female that is driving all over the drive thru,” police Monday night found Brandi Stanley, 31, behind the wheel of a Pontiac SUV idling outside the McDonald’s in Lady Lake, a town about 60 miles from Orlando.

Stanley, who had been eating in the vehicle, smelled of alcohol, had glassy eyes, and her face was flushed, an officer noted. Additionally, when Stanley exited her car at the cop’s request, she swayed from side to side.

After refusing to perform field sobriety tests, Stanley was handcuffed and placed in the rear of a police car. En route to jail, Stanley reportedly uttered, “Just take me home, let’s forget this” and “I’m so stupid I should know better.”

Upon arriving at the county lockup, Stanley “continued to yell and scream” at cops, resulting in “several deputies assisting in removing the defendant from the vehicle.”

It was only after Stanley was extracted from the cruiser that police located an eight-pack of Deep Eddy Vodka under her bra. One bottle was missing from the pack, cops reported.

While court filings do not indicate the size of the individual vodka bottles, physics dictates that they were 50-milliliter nips [how approppriate!] , the shot-size serving associated with airplane imbibing.

Pictured above, Stanley was charged with a pair of misdemeanor DUI counts. After a night in jail, Stanley was released from custody after posting $2000 bond. She is scheduled for an April 19 plea negotiation conference in Circuit Court.
