The going rate in Montreal has been $20 a song for at least fifteen years. So given inflation (and the low Canadian dollar) it's a bargain these days (or will be again), particularly for Americans. Your friend was a little naive to think he'd get off with a stripper for $15, but hey, at least he learned his lesson. A few other tips for the less-experienced from someone who's been around the block a few times too often: the stripper isn't going to let you do much in the first dance but get his clothes off - and the lure of "one song only and then I'll see about more" can lead to a pushy or even hostile situation in my experience so I don't really recommend it. You're in this for $40-60 if you want a smooth entrance and exit. Also, some strippers will try to pretend you've gone an extra song. Assess that situation carefully. I usually try to enter the booth at the top of a song and keep track, and when breaking it off say, "So I think that was three songs" or something like that. If they push back too strongly - again, it's really not worth it. Remember strippers are in business, and they're probably not really attracted to you, and they're trying to get as much money out of you as possible with the least effort in the shortest amount of time possible. That's just life. Also remember they talk among themselves about clients, so if you want to be able to pick up the next hot dancer, you may have to part with some cash to keep the last one happy. Also remember there's not supposed to be any actual sex going on in the back room. At Campus the back room largely lacks any privacy at all now, and at Stock the staff sometimes sticks their head in through the curtains. So anything beyond a hand job is very risky. All that said, most strippers in my experience have given me my money's worth. They provide a service much more reliably than, say, waitresses or salespeople! And most are smart, good natured and want to have a good time. Just bring extra cash, don't get too drunk, don't expect the moon, and keep your wits about you.
