I was in Barcelona for for almost 2 weeks. I was deciding between Hola Barcelona vs T-mobilitat Usual. I ended up getting T-mobilitat Usual which cost 21 euros for 30 days and has free subway metro access to the airport. Hola Barcelona can give you only 5 days at most and that would cost 40 euros—hence, it was easier for me to choose T-mobilitat Usual which was half the price for longer number of days too. Also, T-mobilitat Usual is what the locals use, but foreigners can use it. I used its phone app, and I just submitted a copy of my passport and paid 21 euros on the app. There is also a pay-as-you-go version called T-mobilitat Casual, but this does not have free metro to airport (which is like a 5 euro ticket one way). https://www.tmb.cat/en/barcelona-fares-metro-bus/single-and-integrated/t-usual
Also, if you're in Madrid, avoid the Madrid City Card. I paid 27 euros for that for 4 days and it was not worth it because all the discounts were for attractions I did not want to see (eg, wax museum). It would have been way cheaper if I paid my Madrid transportation with their pay-as-you go commuter card that the locals use.
In my recent experience, both Madrid City Card and Hola Barcelona Card (which are advertised for tourists) are tourist traps and should be avoided.
