  1. Plus one for the Cosori - I inherited one when Mom changed over to some countertop oven thing, but I find myself using the Cosori almost daily. Since I just cook for myself now, it's dong almost almost everything I need to cook, except stove top soups/ marinara.
  2. Used to be, the hot guys from NC and SC would go dance at Swinging Richards in Atlanta for the weekends, head back home to the Carolinas after making their cash - that pattern is sure to change now that SR isn't an option for income any longer.
  3. Ha ha, yes needless to say, their union was neither long-lived nor particularly successful!
  4. In my Dad's house, the phrase was " raining harder than a double-cunted cow pissing on a flat rock".
  5. How on Earth did the NFL back then get 21 weeks of regular season, and nine rounds of playoffs, in by the third week of January? "Dripping sarcasm"
  6. The beauty of our nation is our free market system - if Adele thinks a VIP seat is worth 30k, and a person thinks an evening at an Adele performance has 30k of value to them, bingo - capitalism! If Kroger thinks they can get $4.99 for a loaf of bread, that's their business model - but my choice will be to decline participation in that transaction.
  7. I guess I always thought that those "live at Five" chopper-car chases were on a few seconds tape delay, just to avoid a live broadcast of a suicide crash like we saw here.
  8. I like the "agora" theme, but I'll throw out.... Menavailable.
  9. Good to know, I'll definitely check it out.
  10. Was able to cash in flyer mileage for all my air travel for April- combining the Weekend with a family function in Riverside - but a car seems to be about $90 per day, yikes! Might look into a Turo experience for the first time.
  11. In my childhood home, tongue was always call "beef roast", not "roast beef", in order to get us to eat it. With horseradish and potatoes, it kinda worked.
  12. Sounds like a night at Darcelle's in PDX- drag cabaret that has been running for 55 years now.
  13. Growing upon the farm, we had a border collie who would take up the nursing of the barn cat kittens, after their mom would take off, or become coyote chow. Gotta see if I can find somewhere a pix of Dody and her feline charges!
  14. Is it just me, or does the phrase " interesting gay club in Pomona " sound a bit of an oxymoron?
  15. For my 32nd birthday, I got the wild hair itch ( is 32 too early for a mid-life crisis? ) and traded off a Toyota Camry All-Trak 5-speed sedan, the perfect skiing and winter travel beast, for a bright red Mazda Miata. Some of the gang said I looked ridiculous stuffing myself into it, but I loved having a convertible again. I'd owned a Buick Skylark convertible in my twenties, and my first car was a Datsun 1600 roadster that Dad and I had rescued only for me to flip it in the first snowfall, ugh. However, moving to Oregon and seeing the mold and rust grow from the ever-present water leaks brought an end to topless motoring, and I traded her off for a more sensible Volvo P1800ES hatchback- fun in its own way, but still miss that open air groove......
  16. My freshman year of college, it began to dawn on me that my budget was way out of whack, and the plan to drive back to Washington State over the holiday break was out of the question. Mom offered to send some money, but my stubborn 16-year-old self was bound and determined to live my life on my own terms, with my own resources. So, I let the folks know that I'd be home over spring break, and went into the Student Center to look over the job posts. Ended up taking a valet parking job at Tanforan Mall - good God I ran my ass off for two and a half weeks, but made a lot of tips ( I seem to recall about $600, in 1980 dollars)- enough to get through till spring. The next Christmas they asked me back, but with better financial planning this time, I was OK without holiday temp work.
  17. Hosting the family Christmas dinner circa 1991 in the house I'd finally been able to buy, being the first of my generation of cousins to host the dinner, after decades of my mom's generation hosting. Seeing Grandma smile with the whole brood around the table, the torch being passed down - changing of the guard, feeling finally like a true grown-up in this family.
  18. Sure, but with the shortage of delivery drivers, getting fuel that last step, from the local tank farm to the station, is the weak link in the supply chain. My preferred Holiday/ Kroger station can be closed at completely random times- I'm learning to keep a 1/4 tank in case the station is closed when I go by to refill. Of course, that is exacerbated by Oregon having no refineries, so all our gas is pipelined down from Ferndale or Pasco, WA, and gets disrupted by all kinds of issues.
  19. Really don't know which would be worse - dodging the bovines wandering the byways of Mumbai, or the crazy drivers in the parking lot in Wilton Manors! Either way, your life is in God's hands!
  20. Stopped by while in Florida on vacation last week - interior renovations are close to complete, the night we were there the outside bar was closed for work in progress. Some new faces, some long-time staff, but most of the dancers seemed fresh, we enjoyed our visit.
  21. Ya just need to get out more, my friend! Just returned home from a two-week vacation, including five encounters with different guys in four different states- jeez, I didn't know how much I needed to slut it up again haha. Don't worry, it's like riding a bicycle- it'll come right back to ya.
  22. Time to check in with the local clubs and their approach to the resumption of the mask mandates- Oregon now has masking in any indoor public place, probably until year-end. However, the social distancing seems to have become less important, neither club this week emphasized anything more than masks. On Wednesday, Stag was a little quiet, tho I was there kinda early. Both clubs have resumed per-pandemic schedules, with Stag being 9:30 to 2AM nightly except Mondays, and Silverado having dancers 10:00 to 2AM daily, but no Sunday matinee yet. Talking with Stag's manager Ali (Aladdin), they've decided to add armed security at the door, to keep some of the "Portland Crazy" at bay over the fall/winter. Expansion into the old "Window Bar" space next door is on hiatus until the health crisis is settled. Cover charge on Friday and Saturday (Silverado has this also). Masks are worn except when actively drinking or eating, and you'll be reminded to follow this mandate- more subtly at Stag, but the emcee at Silverado will rag on you over the mic about it, and call you out by description-" Hey, black tee and jorts, pull up yet effin mask!" The mix of dancers seems to have settled into the pre-CO pattern, with the guys at Stag being younger and more emo/thin, and the bigger guys at Silverado. The most interesting guy at Stag this night was River, a 22-year old blond with shaggy long hair (surfer-style) and amazing glutes. Even Ali got on stage for a couple sets, to keep his "skin" in the game, so to speak. About 6 guys on a midweek night, but some of the old regulars have moved on unfortunately. Que sera sera. Ali tells me that he's really trying to hire gay dancers, to move to a more sophisticated experience- time will tell how it works out. Thursday at Silverado was a different theme altogether- a fairly crowded downstairs bar and stage, a mixed crowd of young and old, kinda felt like maybe the old ways might be able to make a comeback. Unfortunately, many of the younger patrons couldn't bring themselves to mask up, and the incessant nagging by the staff to do so cast a downer vibe, IMHO. About 8 dancers in the rotation, most getting full nude at some point in their set. One of the guys would constantly smack his sizeable dick against his tipping bucket, knocking it over and spreading the growing contents of dollar bills all over the stage- first time I've ever seen that schtick! The guys are a mix of big and small, Covid bellies are starting to get worked off, lots of abs on display YAY! I'm not quite ready for lap dances yet, but there was a lot of others partaking that night. All in all, a pleasant couple of evenings catching up with friends an gossiping about oldtimers and meeting new dancers. Maybe there is hope for these places after all!
  23. Truth, it's gonna be a long, silly/stupid winter here, not looking forward to the craziness. BTW it was a pleasure meeting you at Canyon Club in April, it's time for me to start planning for next April!
