I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Opening Night by one of the attorneys involved in the production. It was fantastic, and some of the costumes worn by the male audience members outshone the Bob Mackie creations onstage. There were three Cher sightings. As we approached the theater she was giving an interview outside. Then, when the audience was finally seated (about 20 minutes late) and the curtain was about to go up Cher was escorted to her seat to thunderous applause. Finally, after the curtain calls, Stephanie J. Block brought the creative team onstage (including Bob Mackie.) Finally she introduced Cher herself and they sang a duet (obviously rehearsed) of "If I Could Turn Back Time". The show was quite nice for a jukebox musical and the three Chers worked well together, although Block had the largest role and the best voice. She nailed Cher. The costumes were wonderful. The book is more than little thin and I knew more about Cher from Wikipedia and VH1's "Behind the Music" than from the show. But her point was made, that she had to take control of her own life and succeeded when everyone thought she would fail. I was invited to the afterparty but didn't go as I had to work the next day and had a two hour commute home. All in all, the show is a crowd pleaser and should have a decent run.

If your list starts with Dane Scott and Ace, you really need look no further. They are the best. And both are definitely tops.

In 2015 I spent several days in Amsterdam at a top hotel with Chris Eisenhower (miss you!) and the room had Toto washlets in the bathrooms. We both loved it, and when I retired a year later I got one for my home bathroom as a present to myself. It cost about $3000 including the unit and installation (I'm sure there are less expensive versions) and I don't regret it for one moment. Maybe it's for people "of a certain age" but I find it makes me feel clean and sanitary.

About four years ago I had a health scare. I had some minor surgery and wasn't hungry so I was eating only soup for a few days. When I went for the post-op I had lost ten pounds. That night I had a salad for dinner and haven't looked back. Once I recovered from the surgery a friend set me up with a trainer at a gym (I had never been in a gym in my life). The end result? I lost 90 pounds in eight months and was able to wean off all medications. I now workout every day, am careful about my meals, and have never felt better. I eat carefully, with breakfast and lunch being the same every day except for an occasional treat, and dinner is a huge salad with some protein. It probably helps that I love to cook and also have acid reflux which limits choices. I also drink two quarts of water every day to flush my system. I am convinced that diet is most of the struggle. When I get sloppy I gain weight, although the constant exercise limits the damage. A support system also helps. I lost mine recently, and I'm struggling a little to find a new one, but the health benefits are too important to ignore the risks. Keep at it, find what works, and persevere. It's worth it.
