  1. The press reviews are pretty stellar. I’m looking forward to seeing it in a few days.
  2. I was hoping the sky would get darker in NYC but it was still fun. People who had eclipse glasses were passing them around so all could see. It was a very convivial crowd. The Biennial exhibit had some interesting stuff and some not. Still worth a visit.
  3. You’ve read the book. Probably have seen the movie(s) and now, ta dah, the musical. Both the leads, Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada have powerful voices and used them full throttle in today’s performance. There were lots of 20’s inspired dance numbers performed by a really talented ensemble. Suitably sumptuous sets and costumes made the stage dazzle. IMG_5828.mov
  4. I saw a terrific show today called Dead Outlaw. From the musical team who created The Band’s Visit this is a totally different and wonderfully weird story of a real not very accomplished outlaw named Elmer McCurdy. Shot and killed in a 1911 shootout, his mummified corpse spends the next 60 years as a sideshow exhibit traveling the country. Eventually his red-painted corpse is discovered hanging from a noose inside a California amusement park ride. With a rousing 6 piece band it stars Andrew Durand as McCurdy who blows the roof off the Minetta Lane Theater. The whole cast is great especially Thom Sesma as the corona Thomas Noguchi. The show has to close April 14 but I’m hoping it will transfer to Broadway. Still I’m glad I saw it in a smaller theater . https://deadoutlawmusical.com/

  8. Yes on the 7th floor. There’s more on the walls that I’ve left out. Right now the Whitney is getting ready for the Biennial opening March 20.
  9. Paul Cadmus and Jared French were lovers and created art from the late 1930’s through the early 1950’s. They worked primarily in their studios in New York spending summers on the beaches of Fire Island, Provincetown and Nantucket.
  10. Based on a book I’ve never read, a movie I’ve never seen and an actor, Grant Guston in a tv series I’ve never watched (The Flash) I bought a ticket for a preview of the Broadway show on a whim. And a good whim it was. Pretty amazing circus acts and a life size elephant puppet made for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. IMG_5604.mov

  14. Today I visited Sunnylands the Walter Annbenberg house and gardens in Rancho Mirage. Just about every famous world politician and movie star visited at one point. It still hosts important gatherings
  15. If anyone is interested you can scroll back and read our old reviews. They were really good if I say so myself. We worked pretty hard on them. We had to do a lot of research. Not easy but we enjoyed our jobs. We didn’t get any freebies btw.
  16. Palm Springs is still a very cool town especially in winter. The art museum is a nice place to spend a few hours. Always fun to say “hi” to Marylin.
  17. For any Taylor Swift fans there’s a nice exhibit of some of her costumes at the Museum of Art & Design at Columbus Circle. The restaurant Robert on the top floor is recommended. Great views of the park and the food is good. madmuseum.org

    UNWRITTEN RULES....

Well top of my unwritten rule is mutual respect.
  19. You get a lot of bang for your Christmas buck. The Rockettes are worth the price of admission alone. You even get live camels and sheep at the nativity finale. What more could you want? IMG_5328.mov IMG_5331.mov IMG_5332.mov
  20. The first show of a a contemporary African American portrait painter of Black subjects at the Frick. The show is on till January 7, 2024. https://www.frick.org
  21. Five years of renovation and 30,000 square feet of skylights has made the display of European paintings especially beautiful. New wall colors and some new seating too. Some juxtaposition of different periods. Picssso next to El Greco for one example. I also like the combination of actual objects with the paintings.
  22. Is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. Surrounded by what seems like hundreds of 18th century Italian figures. I’ve seen it many times and always discover something new.
  23. I love watching this number. I wonder of there's an all male version? https://youtu.be/hRdjRDCZBwE?si=YSXww6PFYUeTATJj
